We'll get to the ALB-Goodhue combo eventually.

I'm hoping the Boks bring their A game and are physical. That will test the likes of Frizell.

@bones This week it's just injuries. But we've had other reasons this year: birth of a child, death in the family ...

Excellent - very happy with that side.

Can't wait for the game - bring it on.

The matchday 23 is as follows (with Test caps in brackets.):

    1 Karl Tu’inukuafe (8)
    2 Codie Taylor (37)
    3 Owen Franks (102)
    4 Samuel Whitelock (104)
    5 Scott Barrett (24)
    6 Shannon Frizell (4)
    7 Sam Cane (59)
    8 Kieran Read (113) - captain
    9 Aaron Smith (78)
    10 Beauden Barrett (68)
    11 Rieko Ioane (19)
    12 Sonny Bill Williams (48)
    13 Jack Goodhue (5)
    14 Waisake Naholo (23)
    15 Ben Smith (73)
    16 Nathan Harris (17)
    17 Tim Perry (4)
    18 Ofa Tuungafasi (21)
    19 Patrick Tuipulotu (18)
    20 Ardie Savea (30)
    21 TJ Perenara (50)
    22 Richie Mo’unga (3)
    23 Ryan Crotty (40)

I guess it’s only the Boks, although we will end the game with our best 10 and 12.

Oh I get it now - you're not saying you'd choose someone else instead of Crotty to replace SBW, just other positions.

I'm keen as mustard to see that midfield combo. Crotty has been a bit underwhelming in his limited minutes.

@bones You obviously missed the episode of 1014 Rugby where they illustrated how important he is to the ABs defence in the games he plays. He does the crucial work that often goes unnoticed.

@stargazer oh obviously because there could be no other reason. I reckon @ACT-Crusader could name a team to make you happy.

@bones I don't even understand what you're saying here, but that's fine. I'm sure it wasn't meant as a friendly comment. Nothing new.

Because the AB defence was so good the last time Crotty started at 12 vs the Boks....

I like this lineup and the only changes I’d make to the 23 would be in the forwards and that is down to available personnel.

Not convinced the SBW-Goodhue pairing tells us much more about their preference there, they know how well Crotty-Goodhue works, how good SBW-Crotty works and seen a bit of both pairings with ALB as well...I am surprised they haven't started the ALB-Goodhue one though, may see it on EOYT, that is one that I reckon could take us through the next few years, starting with next years RWC.

Hansen said as much in the presser - apart from the ALB stuff, but that must be their thoughts for the future.

I may have missed the info along the line but did DMac end up travelling over? Seems a bit weird to add that travel in and not use him.

@crucial Yes, saw a photo of him in SA on instagram. Not that weird. He's only one injury (to BB or RM) away of being in the matchday 23.

TAB has the ABs at $1.19 and Boks at $4.55.

Despite all the articles talking this game up, seems like the punters don't expect us to lose.

    I don't either. 🙂
