I think Patty T may have played his last test in an AB jersey. He tends to lose the ball in contact too much. And as much as Ofa has improved, who else was nervous every time a scrum packed down in the 2nd half?
Not me, Ofa was huge out there. Franks is a big concern IMO, and was deservedly yanked after 45mins.
Patrick also had a good game, some big runs and good tight work. Dropped one ball.
Patrick made two handling errors. He lost another one after he went to ground.
Ofa was fucking good though.
No, the ref called Whitelock for the second one, which was still wrong because he didn’t touch it.

Not just BB's goal kicking to blame. Lack of precision and communication in midfield and fullback and some poor execution of the basics.
DMac and Goodhue made a big impact - Goodhue has to start the next game. Thought Taylor was exceptional as was Read. Ioane looked rusty at the start but that was a great try.
If there was any over-confidence had crept in, it's been well and truly sorted...
Goodhue now our number 1 midfielder IMO

I haven't enjoyed an AB test that much since the Lions (gutted we lost). The tension was epic. The rugby wasn't always the best but the Boks put us in a position we're not comfortable with i.e. actually playing with the ball a lot and doing fuck all defending. The kind of game that the post 2007 McCaw teams would've closed out (generally) but you just don't have the confidence this team knows how to do it.
Thought both the Barretts in the backs were not up to par. Thought BB was OK in most of his general play but that goal kicking is unforgivable. Not sure what the answer is there. RM didn't look up to scratch last week, but it was his first test and there may have been quite a few nerves. Those nerves probably wouldn't have been settled in this game.
I reckon it was a real shame they didn't play ALB and JG again in the midfield. They looked potent last week and BB, Crotty & ALB combo just didn't gel.

Meh.... they will learn a lesson there. We were way below par. I am not remotely concerned.
Not actually that impressed with SA.Agreed, they didn’t so much win it, we lost it.
Sure they took their chances and defended well but we gifted them 14 points and left another 8 out there through rediculously poor goal kicking.Apart from the fact we bloody lost, I’m not too worried, we won’t be that poor again.

See above. There ARE no neutrals

I think this game highlights how bad of an idea it is to completely reshuffle your backline between matches
Not sure you can make too many excuses for JB, but you're right - he hadn't played any footy for a while. Playing NMS against the Argies was such a waste of time when you're trying to develop a young player.
On that note - this has to be the least depth we've had in our back three since.... forever? Rieko and B Smith world class, but we don't have a third world class option and then after that.... sheesh.

Why are people saying "if we'd started Mo'unga"? Did they not watch his first test start?
Yeah.. He kicked 7/8
Do you think we would've scored six tries tonight based on his general play against Argentina?
I'm not calling for him to replace Beauden in the starting lineup..
I'm just suggesting that Beauden gives up the goalkicking duties..
At least have Mounga on the bench to kick goals/droppies -
Second half better than the first.
Fantastic effort from both sides 👏
Best match I've seen in ages.
Crotty should have had more rest. ALB and Goodhue is a better in form combo.
Massive gulf when A Smith goes off. Smith would have scored two if not all of TJP's three snipes at the line.
S Barrett must have inherited GOAT's Cloak of Invisibility. Diving and off his feet at almost every breakdown and not once was he penalised.
Great effort from Savea to score his try but there was no way that Owens should have gone back for no advantage.
BB should have been stepped down from kicking. Bad captaincy, bad coaching.
And not taking penalty kicks at goal and the drop kick at the death was as significant as BB's wayward boot.

I disagree.
I'm an Ofa T fan but a Pat T doubter.
But 2 attacking 5m scrums we got put under pressure and fluffed our moves. The kosh was on Ofa's side. He was up against a good scrummaging sub in Beast, though. Pat T not on the field at that time.

Ok? The replay clearly showed Tuipulotu losing control of the ball.

It showed it rolling on his stomach. Didn’t hit the ground or another player, where was the knock on?

Eh no.
Eh yeah. 2 point loss where we gave them 22 points, and basically dominated 60-70% of the match.

Your first sentence is the point. His handling continues to be a real problem.

When Laulala is fit again, he will be on the bench. He is the best THP in NZ as far as scrummaging is concerned.
