For all the negatives being written about Eddie, one thing must always be respected.
The English rugby media absolutely hated him.
He deserves credit for at no point towing the line to that complete bunch of piston wristed gibbons.
While I take your point, I recall the piston wristed gibbons who pose as rugby journalists praised him to the skies when he was winning and thought him a rugby genius.
He is a rugby genius. Just has a use by date!
When they turned on him he doubled down and told them he didn’t give a fuck what they wrote.

there is a part of me that wants England to win the World Cup now
for the simple fact it will stop Unions hanging on to coaches they don't want on the false premise that it is the only way to approach the tournament.

@antipodean Matt Shiteau thinks the RWC is the only thing that matters because he fucked off overseas but wanted to come back and play the World Cup, and the stupid fucking Wallabies let him.
His name is actually synonymous in Aus rugby for having your fat overseas paycheck cake, and eating it too. they fucking literally named the rule after him. Fuck off Matt.

Womens rugby in Ireland gets plenty of money pumped into it increasing their budget to €5,500,000.00 per annum, and on top of that is another million euro extra going is was well this coming year.
Whoa, that's a lot of money - I'd be interested in what the women's rugby budget is here, nowhere near that I'd guess.
-
@Machpants NZ budget was $17M in 2021 and $27M in 2022 (with $10M of that going directly into RWC) from a total of $138m of 'Teams in Black' playing and competition expenses.
Sounds a lot but adds up fast with squads in the 30s and support staff in the dozens

All the other top coaches seem to respect him. The public perception is pretty much down to his never ending desire to stir.
That is a real stirring as well not just a media thing. Look at the numbers of players used yet he still pretty much returns to his “favourites” quickly. That can be thought of as searching and not knowing but I reckon it is a tactic to keep his preferences on their toes.
Then there is coaching staff. He is always looking for different views and voices but they can be seen from the outside as not being able to get along. -
@Nepia Eddie Jones coached some under 10s in a London park with massive enthusiasm for over an hour in freezing conditions. No obvious links between him and the club. He had walked there and then walked off at the end. Some of the parents weren't sure it was actually him.

That’s a great story and reminds me of Jerry Collins turning out for Bideford 2nd XV when he was in the area.

What a twat. Making the kids run around in the bitterly cold frost for an hour.
