@Catogrande Harzenberg played well for UCT in the Varsity Cup. Like the Stormers coach from Bishops. The captain, is Jewish and can play for England. The 4 lock Connor Evans also from Bishops can play for Wales aswell.
- Donovan Don (Down Touch Griffons)
- Katlego Letebele (Vodacom Bulls)
- Ethan James (vice-captain, DHL WP)
- Suleiman Hartzenberg (DHL WP)
- Imad Khan (DHL WP)
- Sacha Mngomezulu (captain, DHL WP)
- Nico Steyn (Lions)
- Louw Nel (DHL WP)
- Ruan Venter (Lions)
- Paul de Villiers (DHL WP)
- Reinhardt Ludwig (vice-captain, Vodacom Bulls)
- Connor Evans (DHL WP)
- Corne Weilbach (DHL WP)
- Lukhanyo Vokozela (DHL WP)
- Corné Lavagna (Vodacom Bulls)
The Stormers, despite the politics have some excellent youngsters from this group.

Remember the kerfuffle surrounding Spain's inept attempts to qualify for the RWC? Well imagine more than 100 tests for Italy now being an issue.
Good thing they wouldn't have to do much to correct the record books.
lol. Another grannygate.
But this part is incorrect; "who has admitted that he never qualified to play for Italy".
Obviously he would have qualified on residency (but after first playing for Italy) at some stage , probably at about 2004 based on his Calvisano stint. So, the first approx 2 years of his 14 year career was dodgy.
-
Assuming he qualiified NH Autumn of 2004.
He played 21 tests before then, including 2003 RWCBeing Italy, they didn't win many anyway. Won 7 of the 21 tests he played in while potentially un-qualified for..
Most serious would be the RWC qualifiers for 2003 RWC. v Romania and Spain. But no team got eliminated from that tournament group, even last place (Spain) got another chance (Through European repechage v Russia, then an inter-continental repechage v USA where they were finally eliminated).
Plus the RWC pool matches. But only top 8 qualified for next tournament, not top 12 like is currently.
So, no major material impact. Just bad look amateurishness. Which isn't a surprise.

Also. It appears he hasn't (voluntarily) admitted that at all, He has accidentally revealed it in an interview where he said his "Grandpa Castro was born in Argentina, his name was José María. The one who was Italian was my great-grandfather, Ángel, who was born in Sicily, in Franco Forte”.
A bit of a gotcha
from Dan LeoEdit. from Paul Tait (The Argentinian journalist with the Anglo name), then picked up by Leo.Could have maternal qualification of course, but ... the wording and context makes it sound unlikely.
But would be quite funny if he did. Apparently it has been reported previously his grandmother was Italian born, so may just have been a riff on his paternic name, badly interpreted. But Tait is native Spanish speaker ... -

I went to that Italy/Tonga game in Canberra. Tonga were robbed both on field and off!
Was a fun crowd. All the Aussie/Italians vs what seemed like every Tongan in coooee of the game.

Blimey. This is a terrible look for one of my fave NH players of that era.

I’ll admit that news surprised me. Alfie always seemed to me to be a pretty straightforward sort of guy. Of course, worth noting that this is just an accusation currently.

Problem for Alfie is that he has moved into the celebrity life now, so this type of accusation won't be abnormal. I hope for his sake that it is a baseless accusation as he could be in deep trouble if not.

Alfie’s defence team have provided their replies to the accusations and from what I’ve seen it is not a good look from Alfie. Did not tell his partner of his HIV status as A) He didn’t think he could pass it on and B )his partner was promiscuous and had a fatalistic attitude to catching HIV.

@Bones Good player. Sad to read that, but glad it's near the end of his career and not at the beginning.
I wonder whether he'll still be able/willing to take up a contract outside France? I obviously don't know what the medical issue is that lead to this decision from the French Union's medical committee, and whether he really should retire, but other countries may not be so strict?
And I also remember when they took a similar decision forbidding Sona Taumalolo to continue playing in France. He appealed and was allowed to play again, because they got it wrong.

Yeah, I read this too. Really poor attitude from Alfie. I've noticed that he's gone for the victim card too by saying that he's had to face some horrible comments from people. If that's the worst he gets, he should feel lucky. I don't expect to see him back on the TV anytime soon.
