Glad it’s an SA ref making that call.
But NZ third official.
Even better. 😏

Is a neck roll not a YC? Thought they were clamping down on them.

TMO said he let go so it was penalty only.

Haha Aussie comms going full retard. Pretty simple, you can't tackle a guy who doesn't, and never did, have the ball. I don't give a shit if you thought he was going to get it. The fact he held him down afterwards just reinforces it.
If tackling a dummy runner is now illegal than the game will be littered with penalties. Basically every backline move will result in one.
Nah what Coleman did doesn’t happen that often. He picked the wrong man and then drove him into the ground and held him down. It was a simple cut out ball from Ireland that was completely misread. Poor play.

Good tackle by Henshaw to stop that initial attack. Pressure building though.

I don't get why Pocock always gets rag dolled. He's built like a tank and lower to the ground. Is he really slow?
It is weird. You'd expect him to be like Nonu but he ain't.
Yeah or Mealamu. A nugget wrecking ball. He's bigger than Hooper, but Hooper runs km more than him.
Too much gym strength not enough functional strength maybe?
-
Ireland tiring more. Some players sucking hard.

Tackling a player without the ball has always been illegal.

Great scrum by Australia at critical moment. Easy three.

Must be but Pocock is such a professional in everything he does. I would have thought he'd be focusing on what will be best for rugby. It's bizarre that he can't break a single tackle, even late in a game.

Oh yeah, for sure. But I also see dummy runners - I.E players that put their hands up and feign catching the ball - get tackled all the time and no penalty results. To rub out a try where it had no impact on whether the try would be scored or not is ridiculously harsh.

Stockdale released ball there. But ref says ruck was formed.

Yeah, he definitely released it and got back up. Should have just been play on.
-
Good try by Pocock. Ireland couldn’t resist pressure.

But it's still bullshit. Because it is foul play you can go back however long you want, even if it is worth only a penalty. For everything else it is only two penalties. The ref plus two assistants missed the off the ball tackle at the time. As an aside, if they screwed up why is time not put back on the clock?

Tongan Thor helped with some interference there.
-
Conversion over. That’s the game I reckon. Don’t think Ireland have the game plan to come back here.

I didn't think so. The ruck had formed around him, and by the time he stood up he was in an offside position. If he wanted to play the ball he needed to get onside first.

Ref explained it well. If the ruck is formed around you (which it clearly was) you can't get up and play it again. Stockdale was lucky to stay on the field. Aussies would have scored if he didn't infringe.
