2018 Football World Cup

Wow.
That's me 0-3 in predictions.
Ticki-tacki (sp), Spanish for fucking about.
Spain needed to run at Russia and didn't. Big mistake.
Great for the tournament.
-
Wow, what a result for Russia, they held out Spain's tedious passing for such a long time, the whole country was on the edge for every second.
Great result for the WC, and imagine the partying tonight in Russia! Most of the country will call in sick Monday morning haha -
Good one from yesterday
Don't cry 4-3, Argentina

can't even fathom the media wank if Eng won the whole thing. They're still having a colossal daily tug over the last one in 1066.
That's why it would be amusing to see them cut off moments before the money shot.
That's mean. They have sucked for years. And taken an awful kicking from their press.
Their press are parasites and their fans are drunken thugs.
Absolutely no sympathy here.
-
Now THAT was an utterly boring game of soccer.
-
fucked up Tournament. Spain limp out with a game plan that's 6 years too old, and fucking Russia are quarter finalists.
Croatia almost cock it up by forgetting to actually play.

Not often a game that is 1-1 after 4 minutes can turn out to be that dull. Probably the heat and the fact the teams are playing high pressure games every 4-5 days isn't going to help teams bomb up and down the field enthusiastically.

if England beat Colombia its a doddle of shit tier euro wallies Sweden/Swiss/Croatia/Russ to the final. Golden opportunity here on the euro b-grade git side of the draw
Colombia to win 4-3 in a penalty shootout.

It would be great if Mexico can upset Brazil because then the media's favourites to win (Germany, Spain and Brazil) will all be out.
I only saw the ET of the Croatia-Denmark game but that had plenty of drama. Subašić saves Modric's blushes.
Nooooo - I have Brazil in the sweepstake! I was watching the end of the game on Skygo at work with the sound down. Any idea why the Danish defender wasn't red carded when he gave away the penalty a few minutes from the end? Tackle from behind when the striker is about to roll the ball into an empty net is surely a red card unless something has changed in interpretations recently.

@kiwipie He did touch the ball so the ref decided only a YC.
Apparently the laws have been changed recently, so what would have been PK and RC is now always PK and YC.

Thought that might be the case. That was about as clear a case of red card as Suarez's 2010 goal line handball. He may have touched the ball but he had to go through the striker's leg to do it. Anyway it was a shocking penalty by Modric - looked like he had no confidence to just blast it a la Harry Kane.

English fans are softies compared to the "Ultras" end of Russian fans, or Croatia or Serbia for that matter. They still kill people.
We just don't hear about them, but they are the old style hooliganism that England has largely had policed out. (The English police have banned a couple of guys for singing racist songs after the match in a pub. There'd barely be a Balkan football fan left if they started doing that!)
And if you think the English press are savage, I assume you don't follow other countries.
The outpouring of bile when Italy failed to qualify was apparently quite something. I don't imagine any of the Argentine or Spanish players will go near a newspaper for a while either.
The faults you find with English football are pretty much international. We just hear about them because they are English speaking.

So not even threat of death?
Even less sympathy than in my previous post.

Yep, this notion that the English press are unique in their savaging of the national team is complete crap. It's probably worse in Southern Europe and South America. Shit even in passive little Norway after Tore Andre Flo missed a sitter they had massive front page headline with pictures stating "This is a ball, this is a goal, you can figure the rest out yourself."

As a sporting group I really struggle to feel sympathy for them on the whole though. After the WC is over the vast majority go back to their clubs and 'earn' their ridiculous salaries all while falling over pretending to be hurt.
