@Canerbry said in [Poll] Will you use Spark to watch RWC?:

Can people overseas use a vpn and get the Spark stream?

    Asking for a friend.

Wouldn't they be better off tapping into a free stream in the country they are in? Or find a free stream online?

Another interesting 1014 on Spark. This time on 'pool curve'.

Considering they dont appear to gave access to any video coverage yet for video analysis after flipping to spark, they're absolutely aceing these graphs.

World Rugby will offer its own free streaming service for the upcoming Rugby World Cup in markets where broadcast deals are not in place.

According to an email I just received, the Japan vs South Africa cup warm up game is live on Spark Sport tonight at 10:15pm. First chance to test out the live streaming/picture quality etc. before the cup gets underway.

Anyone know about streaming options in China for the World Cup? I'll be working there during it.

@Tim Probably via the World Rugby website or one of its sub-sites.

@Stargazer Thanks for the link. I couldn't find the official broadcaster's link. World Rugby streams are normally good, but I'll check out BEIN and Rugbypass too.

I must be an antique. Having constant issues trying to get my sparksport 'rugbypass' working to watch the SA v Japan match. Have given up on casting to TV (can't find my wifi network) and get stop/start on my android. Are other people having the same issues, or is it my setups that are to blame?

Does anyone know if there’s an alternative for watching live in rural areas where the internet speed is not suitable? Any tricks will be appreciated.

And no, I’m not content with the teasers they’ve dangled out free to air on TV.

Newstalk ZB and Radio Sport have secured live radio broadcast rights to Rugby World Cup 2019, providing the centrepiece of New Zealand Media and Entertainment’s (NZME) multi-platform, 24/7 coverage from Japan.

With Newstalk ZB and Radio Sport the Official Radio Broadcasters of the Rugby World Cup 2019, New Zealand rugby fans will hear all the New Zealand Rugby World Cup games live. From Tokyo to Yokohama, Radio Sport’s Nigel Yalden will be in Japan to commentate live across Newstalk ZB and Radio Sport’s 64 frequencies, and digitally through nzherald.co.nz and iHeart Radio.

Joining Yalden in Japan will be NZME rugby journalists Patrick McKendry, Liam Napier, Elliott Smith, Gregor Paul and videographer Mark Mitchell. With a diverse range of columnists adding even more
spice, NZME is promising unique and insightful coverage in digital, print and broadcast.

It's a very bad omen for the Spark's service when you visit the Spark Sport website to explore signing up when no games are on.... and you just get met with a blank black screen in your browser...

So far I have no regrets in not signing up.

New pub opening up in Matamata next week which will be showing the games which will be enough for me.

Tried to set up my sons ipad for it on the weekend and looks like it is too old for the version of software required to support the app so he's stuck with an old iphone 8 I had in the drawer. Small screen but will have to do him and he can of course you that device via apple play to get it on the big screen.

For those with VPNs, my experiment went well on initial testing. Will need to wait until the main event now
