Netball

Well if the issue wasn't as much the cattle as the strategy or 'player led' approach by the past coach then we should see things improve pretty swiftly. Hoping the reintroduction of Langman in particular will really boost us.
-
No pressure now, eh? But Noeline is a winner...
The selection of her assistants, which could be Australian, and the first squad will be interesting to see.
I think I heard that she gets to keep her Aussie gig too, with NZN's blessing. They are giving her the keys to the kingdom

@canefan As they should. No coach in NZ has Noeline's credentials or outstanding knack of taking teams all the way. NNZ were fucking insane to choose Southby over her. I just hope all the fossils on the NNZ board have gone, and they understand the new world order - that netball is nowhere near as important as it used to be, and girls have tons of top level professional sport options now. The board has to drag their sorry asses into the now.

Any team can get up for one game. The real test to see if they have turned a corner, will be in the final game in Wellington. The Aussie girls will be pissy to have lost by double figures, and if the Ferns can stay close/win again, then we can start to get a bit hopeful that Noeline and co are turning the Titanic away from the iceberg.
-
Yeah even Southby won this time last year.

@bones Oh yeah, great win. But they need to string wins together and get combos sorted, plus ensure all the shooters fire. Folau at GA shouldn't have to do everything because the GS is unreliable or shooting poorly (like what we saw with Mes). I will add having Langman back in the midcourt makes a huge difference. That was something horribly obvious at the Comm Games, the defence winning a turnover, only for it to fall apart in the midcourt.

I'm sorry but due to your writing skiting I see nothing but lurid innuendo. I think.

@mokey Agree with all of that - but credit for Langman being back has to go to Taurua
The reliance on Folau is a real worry as she is the absolute epitome of a confidence player. Probably defines one more than anyone in any sport. When the force is with her she is incandescent and is nailing them from everywhere- miss a couple under the posts and / or get bullied - not so much.
-
I don't think it's a coincidence that Folau just had a blinder. To me it looks like Taurua has got Folau playing better - Folau seems to moving around a hell of a lot more - it seems like they actually have a plan on attack (and defence) that the team is buying into.
-
@dogmeat Absolutely. The circle can't revolve around one player. The midcourters need to be confident that whoever is free is capable of shooting the goal, or at least be right there for a rebound shot. The GS should be pretty much planted under the goal like Irene used to be, and have a very high accuracy rate. Then the GA can zip in and out to get closer or take the wider shots.
