@taniwharugby Interesting choice of Havili, because I think he's an outsider. They'll have DMac as one of the first fives so with BFA and Jordie as the top fullback options, I think David will be surplus to requirements.
Oh God please not DMac at 10 for the ABs, even as a sub. He's not a 10s asshole at the moment. With Sops leaving the order should be Beauden -> Mo'unga -> Jordie.

@kiwimurph Not sure how you can say that, considering he has hardly played at 12 for the Crusaders in recent years. It seems that people who say that, only base their judgment on that one game against the B&I Lions, in which he had to replace Crotty. His only other games for the Crusaders in which he had to play at 12 were when he replaced Crotty in 2016 (5 times) and had to form a combo with Fonotia. He also played at 12 when forming a combo with Crotty (playing at 13; 3 times at the end of the 2016 season). He's also been good at 12 for Ta$man.
I definitely prefer Havili at 15; but it's a bonus that he can cover 12 and Hansen seems to think so as well.

@kiwiinmelb I'd tend to disagree quite strongly there - Laumape is not even close to the player Nonu is - he's brutal, but the things that put Nonu above his peers (superb vision, deft passing, brilliant decisions), don't really feature in his arsenal. I can see him developing these assets though from the huge improvement he's shown in the last 2 years.
I was thinking more early Nonu , the raw nonu , and seeing the similarities at a similar stage

What suggests that Jordie is a 10s asshole when he hasn't played a match there?

It's pretty obvious he has the required attributes to go well at 10 or 12, but the most important one is a bit of bloody composure under pressure, which is why he was able to slot in against the Lions. DMac is erratic in everything he does, regardless of where he plays in the backline. Putting him at 10 is madness.
The cupboard is bare at the moment past Mo'unga (who also has no test experience). If Beauden goes down then the ABs are in a bit of trouble.

Yep. He drives me crazy, but he does have the skills to be good there. It's just decision making. Some of the balls he threw last night were exactly what is needed to break down a rush defence, inside the traffic. But, on the other hand, some of his play (especially his running) was headless shit and ridiculous.
I was him to get time at 10 this year (and Mo'unga, and even Jordie) so that next year we've got 3-5 guys in key positions who've had time out there. We know that we'll be hit with some injury concerns, so this year has to be the year where we attempt to address that. For the same reason, I see eight, lock, hooker, and midfield as areas where some new blood needs introduction.

I think that Perofeta is in the same boat as McKenzie! They both can be quality 10’s but both need to be able to control a game which neither have shown yet.
As for Jordie Barrett he is the form full back in Nz right now,I can see Ben smith playing wing for allblacks -
We are so blessed that our lord and saviour, The Pimply Giraffe, is here to negate the player drain. How good is it having a guy who is a realistic test option in any position in the backline, whether he has played there or not.
We need a stronger word than overrated.

DMAC at 10 for AB's, please no. Wild card bench option at best. People can joke about overrating Jordie all they like. I want either him, or Beaudy, or both, on the park for 80 mins of every AB test. Any position, don't care.
Noooo, Rocky they got to you too? You bastards!

He's set a new record for the youngest GOAT of all time.
But in seriousness, if DMac, the guy bringing new meaning to the term headless chicken, is a "realistic" test option at 10 then Jordie is right in the conversation. DMac gives me the shits at 15 let alone 10.

Yep I'm right with you on this. If we're going into a test with DMac at 10 I'd be very worried. Think I'd be less so with Jordie there, although would prefer to see him played there in parts first.

I'm interested in how DMac will go with better coaching. He creates things with his pace and body movement that are undefendable. However, he's currently mixing that with horrible mistakes and errors of judgement. I guess Hansen will figure out if they can coach the downside out of him.

At the risk if coaching the upside out if him too.

I don' tthink this coaching group will. THey encourage people to play, but at the right time. Can you think of anyone who had the flair coached out of them -- I can't off the top of my head.

I just think he's more suited to 7s - he'd be a fucking beast in that format, would create try after try after try. But without space he panics, and his lack of size really counts against him.
If he's already struggling with the lack of space at SR level then he's in for a world of hurt at test level.
Realistically 14 or 15 are the only positions I can see him doing OK in.
