Woke up today feeling a bit of pain in the humerus bones which isn't very funny.

I'm not really doing weights but assume it's from the rope climbs which are pretty taxing. Any of you other fellas had this?

I think it's humerus that you do rope climbs.

I'm sorry, I'll get my coat.

In all seriousness, I used to have a few issues with it. Old dude down the gym had a stretching exercise for it. Basically just grab hold of something and stretch out the arm for 30 seconds or so. You can also just hang off a bar. Seems a bit voodoo but did the job for me.

He he, rope climbs. Bet you use that sledgehammer on the tyre as well.

In terms of an arm/back workout they are sensational and something I love doing. There's a big rope swing down the road from where I live and I pop down there for a workout twice a week or so.

Will try that hanging at the park or off a door frame too.

Haven't done tires for a few weeks but will have a swing when I'm there next, last time it was full of water to make it extra challenging.

Yeah, obviously just shitting you. It looks like really good exercise. Much much harder than it looks.

Pretty satisfying getting to the top but can be a bit scary on the descent if you're fatigued.

Is it anything like tennis elbow? likely from all the grip effort? you can roll out your forearms and that can help with soreness around the elbow... note that is straight out bro-science so the next port of call would def be our in-fern physio @Magpie_in_aus 🙂

Just up from the elbow but getting it in both arms which is good meaning my body is crapping out at an even rate 🙂

@mn5 getting older is a motherfucker. I currently have something called Wry Neck (and i wish it was just a shit NZ beer) caused by sleeping funny! WTF? I have had to change how i sleep, and can't move my head properly because one of my traps is tight as a motherfucker. Swimming is fun right now.

    Fuck getting older.

Ha, shit beer. I like what you did there.

Just read up on some warm ups to do before rope climbs, apparently they are very tough on the CNS.

Pilates helps too but I've had a case of CBF in the last week.

Yeah bro science isn't too far off the mark. Have you had a sudden increase in load (not from the missing implementing the CBF stuff). As in gone from not doing a lot of a particular exercise to doing a lot.

Tendons like load but don't like overload eg significant increases in weight, changes in grip techniques, or significant increases in frequency of exercises. Commonly called tennis elbow because they will get it after changing grip or massively ramping up training.

Thing is tendons don't like deload either which is usually peoples go to. They decide to take a week off (in that time tendon gets no better and starts to weaken) go back and its still sore then rest another couple of weeks again no change. Then they either have a bigger rest or just try push through it. Result is always the same they turn up to physio after 2-3 months.

Google Lateral Episcondylitis and tell me if thats where you are feeling your pain?

A little bit higher to be honest Doc.

So you reckon stretching thoroughly beforehand will help then?

I've changed from chins to doing rope climbing so probably more intense, I think that might be a potential issue.

    Im pretty meh to stretching.

What are the exercises or day to day things you notice it with?

How long does the pain stay around? Are you controlling yourself on the way down or just sliding? Do you have any general fatigue for the following days (like whole body kind of stuff). Diagnosed a chick once who did crazy amount of diamond pushups and slow lower eccentric pullups one day. I treated her foot. Rung her the next day she said she was fatigued etc etc asked if the acupuncture would have caused that...

I said no but lets try a long shot go ask your doctor to test you for Rhabdomyolysis. Doctor laughed her away but gave her a referral for the tests. Rung back 4 hours later asked her to rush to hospital. Was in there for the next 4-6 weeks. Kidney and liver function was about 1000x normal.

    unlikely but worth clearing.

Any tingling pins and needles numbness (not the type of numbness I currently feel when watching the warriors).

    Neck and shoulder movement full?

Bloody hell what a terrifying post!

I try and control myself on the way down but sometimes this depends on the level of fatigue.

Rest of the body feels ok. Managed to persuade the other half to rub the arms last night and that worked wonders.

Probably just old age then. If pain persists go see a physio (and say you injured it at a very specific point in time so ACC jump on board).

Unfortunately Aussie aren't on ACC so just PM me your address to send my invoice.

Have added one armed push ups into the routine for ultimate wankness. I'm enjoying them and once you get the balance spot on they're not too bad.

Really pleased that my Sunday Pilates sessions are genuinely producing some awesome benefits ( I'm not just saying this to make the mrs happy ).

My flexibility and core control are improving each week and in general I'm physically feeling awesome. She's adding more resistance bands and I'm going well, no more collapsing in a heap and even the shakes have gone. I can see why professional athletes swear by Pilates and yoga as great supplementary work to other stuff.

I genuinely feel my control and form in other exercises has improved no end too.

Did 3 x rope climbs after work ( dressed in jeans and a shirt ) with about 3-4 minutes rest in between. Got a weird look from a lady walking her dog on the last set. Then home for a couple of sets of one armed push ups in the kitchen while frying up a steak and having a nice glass of diet Ginga beer.

Devastatingly someone has moved ( stolen ) my tire that I use to flip so might have to pop down to the Rugby clubrooms and try and find another.

I guess that's what happens when you live in the Hutt.

The mrs has signed us up for Tango this weekend. Being a coordinated musician I'm sure I'll be fine. I just hope it's not one of those 'change partner' type deals like when we did Salsa and I got stuck with an enormous minga who I couldn't get my arms around much to her amusement.

( the mrs not the minga )

Trying to get the hang of pistol squats and failing miserably, no Pilates last Saturday on account of a family birthday thing and I fully intended to do dry July ( have been really good with the drinking lately ) but fucked up by having a couple of glasses of red on the first of July.

Pistol squats are fucking hard! And even harder without good ankle flexibility, which isn't something a lot of us work on 😁

Next time you are doing the rope climbs you could use the rope to give you minor assistance. That's how I see a lot of peeps learning them at the gym. Plus not trying to go to deep to soon. Giggity 👍
