Damn, well that went south pretty quickly.
@mariner4life joined in and pretty much asked the same question as me - just so much more succinctly.
Everyone getting over AIG being on the jersey? Want to keep players? Any better ideas?
Yep. Every silicon valley fuck knuckle that want to buy a chunk of NZ as a bolt-hole should be made to pay an AB tax whereby they have to pay the contract of a player chosen by NZR.
And get Julian Savea on pay by performance...

Stuff paying for one player, they have to pay for contracts for the whole team!!!

Jordan Taufua won't join Lyon OU. He should stay in NZ. He's been promised by S Hansen that he will have a chance to show he's a contender for the RWC in 2019.
Interesting. Maybe they really are rethinking the options at 6 and Squire/ Fifita aren't ringing the bell hard enough?

Great that he's staying...but I find it hard to fathom he's in the reckoning...
Then again if Ardie is considered good enough and eight cover, I wouldn't see too much difference between him and Taufua.
Apart from about 2 feet in height.

Assuming that the French media didn't completely make up negotiations between Taufua's agent and Lyon, it's more likely that someone from Lyon was told "something" by Taufua's agent (which may have included a reference to a conversation with Hansen) and that that person from Lyon misinterpreted it and talked to the French media. I seriously doubt Taufua or his agent have talked to French reporters directly.
Anyway, IMO he's a very good SR player and I hope he'll stay in NZ for a bit longer. It's no secret I do rate the guy (more than the 2017 version of Ardie and Squire) and I think he should (and hope he will be) considered in the way suggested by @Crucial.
As nobody knows for sure whether a conversation has taken place between Taufua and Hansen, and even less what has been said and in which wording, I'm not going to put words in Hansen's mouth. Everything is pure speculation.

Funny, it is usually articles claiming 'I've never heard from the AB coaches' that circulate when players (or coaches) head off...

Jerome Kaino to Toulouse will be official on thursday (in the evening for you i suppose).
They are getting a bit of a lemon. One of the great AB 6s, but his career has gone rather Rodney So'oialo in the last few months.

Wyatt Crockett off to Ta$man...those poaching bastards.
-
@billy-tell just a tad of an overstatement. Pretty sure they'll be happy and he's in nothing like the state Rodders was. Hasn't even dropped as far as Messam.
