NBL: Breakers and stuff

@bovidae I wonder if anyone has an unbusted bracket now? I reckon not
Me either. Viriginia losing would have busted everybody bar UMBC supporters.
Looking at the bracket Kentucky should get out of the South, and Xavier in the West. The East and Midwest regions look harder to pick.

Back to Henare and the Breakers.
According to Hinton:
Here's the situation as I understand it: Henare has quit his Breakers role with no replacement job to go to. It is that serious a situation. He has not been enticed away by a better offer. A job he couldn't turn down. He just couldn't continue in this one under the new ownership group headed by Matt Walsh.
My understanding is that communication was poor between the new owners and their coach, and that what was presented to him to continue in the role did not meet Henare's satisfaction.
There was no back and forth in a search for compromise. No negotiation. And the incumbent head coach took what he perceived to be his only option. He walked away.

Winter is coming

That is really shit by the new owners. Surely a bit more effort to soften the exit and not lose goodwill would have been the way to go? It's not like they are picking up a club in shambles or anything, where the scorched earth approach might be warranted... wonder what the old owners think of this?

Henare in the running for the now vacant Taipans gig
-
Braswell would be the best of the local coaches.
Until we know the full story I'm not going to put all of the blame on the new US owners. They wanted Henare back but he chose to walk. Obviously there was a disconnect. Dillon Boucher is still there as the GM so if he was also replaced then a purge has definitely occurred.

Speaking of the NBL, I see that the final series has gone to game 5 with the home team winning every game so far. I haven't watched any of the games but it will be the first time since 2009 that a team other than Perth or the Breakers are champs. That was the now defunct South Dragons.
-
Taipans skipper Cam Gliddon elects not to re-sign with the club, and is on the market. Be a decent pick up for anyone in the league really.
-
Aaron Fearne has been added to the Tall Blacks coaching staff for the Comm Games. The Tall Blacks will be based in Cairns for their pool games.

I heard something on the radio this morning saying that Rick Pitino was rumoured to be the next Breakers coach. Pitino had plenty of success at NCAA level but was fired from Louisville last year for allegedly being involved in "pay for play" deal with college athletes. He also earned an annual salary of US$7.8M in his last year.
Edit: Pitino has dismissed the story. I doubt he'd move to NZ for peanuts.

haha and you Breakers fuckers are whinging because your new moneyed owners might upset the apple cart.
You could be witnessing the death of the Taipans.
By all accounts we have one signed player. And he is usually injured for most of the season.
We didn't resign our coach, which all in all is probably the right decision, it really was time for a change. If we can't win, at least make us fun to watch.
Then our captain leaves, for fucking Perth if stories are correct. Then our best player in McCarron decides to play next season in Europe.
We are rebuilding completely. From scratch. With no money. In a league that is happy to become a money league, that's a very bad thing. No decent coach is going to want the job, what players are going to want to come here?

I hear Tana is keen bro!! Parsons has always felt stereotyped as a hooker and is ready to reinvent himself as a centre!

I've seen him throw lineouts, doubt his 3-point percentage is going to be that high
