Sunday was wedding anniversary and Mothers Day so tried to keep busy as much as possible. Took youngest to skate part and then went on epic run. Came back and later went with kids to oval where we kicked the ball around and did some other exercise. Miss the swimming but so long as we're exercising/doing something together.

Monday was a really good leg day. Was bitching the other day about leg GAINZ but actually I'm seeing progress. I got me some proper calvez now.

Today: Shoulders. Bloody tired now. Must be doing something right.

A decent runaround with the kids is a surprisingly good workout. Playing tag on the jungle gym is great for agility as well.

Yep, certainly tires you out more than you think.

My eldest got out of bed on Sunday morning and realised he had a sixpack. Started flexing in front of the mirror. He's starting to see and appreciate the benefits of this training I get him to do. He now goes to the gym once a week through school and is making noises about membership. Will be awesome when I get to left weights with him one day.

Shoulder problems can become real trouble if you don't address what is causing the problem. Is it general muscle soreness or rotator cuff problems? The latter are quite common and can be caused by over training one particular muscle group. You often see guys with outsize biceps having rounded shoulders and cuff problems because they don't exercise their back properly. Not saying this is you but it's worth getting a professional second opinion on what the root cause could be. Worst case scenario is that is stops you training for s serious amount of time.

No it's not the rotator cuff. Since my earliest lifting days that's the injury I most want to avoid so I'm aware of that one. It's more in the lower shoulder/upper arm and only occurs when I do burpees. I did a full shoulder session today and not a bit of pain. It's weird. I'm just going to drop the burpees for a few weeks and see how that goes. I also have to get my hands on a proper roller.

Hmm. That is a bit odd. Leaving out the dreaded burpees might do it. Do you have a spotter critiquing your form whilst doing the burpees? I say that as more often than not as fatigue creeps in in, form goes to ratshit. Good luck anyway mate.

Cheers mate. The burpees are done as part of burpee pullups in the middle of laps around the local oval so fatigue is a big factor.

Well a good week of workout wasted with an epic bender on Saturday. Drank more in one night than I have in a year. Fark me. Still feeling the effects.

I'm now officially off the drink. Pure effing poison. Might be awesome when you're getting it down but the end result is so horrible that it just ain't worth it.

Was still feeling like shit on Monday so nothing.

Felt OK on Tuesday morning but hangover-type symptoms erupted after what was a good shoulder workout. Was smashing lemon cordial. Had farking litres of the stuff.

Wednesday was decent leg day. Still not 100%. Fark drinking.

@rancid-schnitzel gees mate, must have been a hell of a night. I've found straight whiskey on the rocks a handy substitute to a) reduce hangover, b) reduce carbs so it doesn't seem like a weeks workout wasted.

No I am probably not looking at the situation in a healthy responsible manner.

Considering I very rarely drink and then only beer it was a hell of a bender. A semi-alcoholic mate of mine also slaughtered so I must have had my fair share. I was having an awesome night right up to point I had my head in the toilet. I also slept beside the toilet. Never a good result.

Major rush today. Bumped into dude I hadn't seen for a while and we talked for about half an hour about the struggles and torment of having teenage sons. Had to go into lightening mode after that but was a bit of a wasted session in terms of pump. Happy to have the chat though. There's some seriously weird shit happening with teenage boys these days. Probably teenagers in general, but I've talked to umpteen different people about their boys being a problem. Can't be a coincidence.

@rancid-schnitzel Not to get all politicy..but I do wonder what they are being exposed to in school these days, ie potential feminist agenda of straight white men are evil colonialist rapists and should be sorry..not to mention easy access to porn..I know that would have messed with me pretty hard.

You have to wonder. His own teacher (a woman) actually warned me of that last year. She also said that the massive disparity in the male-female ratio of teachers isn't helping.

But I must say that seeing him and his (extremely diverse, including a Sikh and kid who reckons he's gay) group of friends interact, they're not exactly SJWs. Quite the opposite. Ultimately they are a generation completely born without sin and prejudice and who will not exactly take kindly to being negatively labelled because of their skin colour or the fact they have a cock. But are the girls the same? I have no idea.

@rancid-schnitzel I think I'm probably a bit jaded by talking to Victorian parents and their horror stories about that safe schools program. That's good about your kid, apparently the next generation are looking to rebel against this social justice overreach.

Very good session this morning. Timer out, 1 min between sets, no mucking about. Very good. Week ends a million times better than it started.

Safe schools is shocking. That Andrews character is a kind of nightmare. He's the bitch of the most militant union in the country and also a card-carrying SJW. Move to Qld mate. We've got...... Pallachook..... Never mind

Oval chock a block full of soccer players so went to gym for some crossfit.

Ball slams, box jumps, burpees, crunches x 15 x 4.

Felt remarkably ok after that. Burpees went well and no pain.

Finished with a full pace 1km run and 1km row.

    Good shit.
