Game over, but I can see why Jack Goodhue get some love as he shines in a beaten team.
J Savea sets up a try to Goosen for the last play of the game.
49-21.
The championship final will be at our nation's capital. The wife will be home from her girls weekend so I shall go to the caketin to watch I think.

Savea was great twice in the game. But had a game he will mostly want to forget. Maybe hes' just trying a bit too hard because at least he now looks in great shape
The two stand out players though was Goosen and JGB. JGB has developed during this NPC into a top quality 1st. And Goosen is class. He was class on the wing for the Canes and now likewise at center for Wellington

I know its only M10 rugby and only a championship semi but if tight forwards like Blackwell, Lousi, Alex Fidow and Aumua are going to progress and make the step up to super rugby, they are going to add a fair amount of accuracy to their obvious talent.
Aumea's line-out throwing was a bit off (esp in the first half) but usually he's good in this regard. But otherwise the accuracy of the players mentioned was fine.

I note you say J Savea was "great twice" in the game. I'm assuming those two moments were where his runs and offloads led to tries, but to be fair to J Savea, I think the Northland Half Back will think J Savea had at least a couple of pretty good moments in between the two "great" ones.

I believe Scotty Stevenson said something like ‘Savea is rolling Nock like Sushi’

@bones He gotten beaten on defence in the first half, and spilt the ball a couple of times. Also gave away two turnovers on the ground.
Prescient observers of his decline will continue to note his low ability.
He had perhaps the worst half of rugby I have seen him play. And he made mistakes (but not as many) in the 2nd half too. Its a shame as his attitude has improved out of sight. i think it will just take time for him to get it all together again

thing is, someone like Savea should look a world beater at this level.
That turn of pace he showed, not sure I've seen him run like that for years, shows there is life in those legs still, but it might be a bit late?
