Smashed him. Incredible performance.
Some fool was talking about a "changing of the guard" when Titty Pants beat Fed. Well the guy in his 30s who arse farked him just got arse farked in turn by another guy in his 30s. Changing of the guard - hardly.

Rafa might have got his clock cleaned in Melbourne, but back to Roland Garros and it's business as usual. Eighteenth Grand Slam.
Going back to that 2017 Australian Open final, where I thought Rafa would walk home against Fed, but lost in five - all else being equal, if Rafa wins that one those two would be nineteen apiece.
Novak has fifteen - if he'd won that one he'd have held all four at once for the second time. Given the edge he seems to have at present on all other surfaces, this time next year he'll likely be pretty close to Rafa and breathing down Roger's neck as well.
Ash Barty wins the ladies' singles with all the biggest names getting tipped out early.

Great win for Ash Barty, some of the Oz men could learn from her success about commitment, hardwork and being a humble winner and general all round good sportsperson. Likewise for Rafa, fantastic sprortsperson who works his guts out for the sport. Two well deserved winners for tennis this weekend

I have been very impressed with Barty, I was lucky to watch her live at the Aussie Open this year and she really is a great sportswoman. She appears to have a great head on her shoulders and does not appear to let things get to her, she is always relaxed and open and just appears to be fair dinkum. The same cannot be said for the petulant entitled Aussie duo.

Tomic has pretty much been surpassed by more level headed people like Millman and de Minaur, I think. He's become a bit of a sideshow. Kyrgios continues to be a bit of a plonker.
So it's nice to see someone like Ash Barty capture the Oz tennis headlines.Heard on radiosport that she lucked out a bit with her draw - didn't face anyone ranked in the top 10 - but, the French Open can be like that.

I like the fact that Womans tennis bar Serena Williams is so competitive. Just looking at Open winners this decade there have been 18 different woman winners. The men by comparison 6
14 Djokovic
12 Nadal
5 Federer
3 Murray, Wawrinka
1 Čilić -
@booboo maybe, if you're like me, you've seen him being a just plain honest kid a few times, in an industry where the money generators are teen age kids.
Kids that hit the court everday from the age of 5. Hell of a childhood if you don't value fame and fortune, or it loses it's appeal.

Why do I like Nkck Kygrios?
i do to! I mean, he's a tool, but the kid can play, and he has zero fucks to give, and everyone else in that sport is so boring. He's got talent but he's flawed, people normally like that.
And a sport that has been dominated by 3 blokes devoid of personality for what feels like 30 years needs it.
-
Guy who throws a hissy fit, because he didn't get a white towel. What's not to like?

I really like him.
In this era of hyper-competitive sport, there's something so refreshing about someone who:
- Doesn't try that hard
- Acknowledges he doesn't try that hard, but
- Is still really fkn good at tennis.
And yes he could be great, but he doesn't really want to be. It causes you to rethink everything about sport because for decades I've thought that effort is inherently good, and laziness means you 'waste your talent'.
But he's so comfortable with a ranking in the 30s, earning great coin, traveling the world, winning some circuit tournaments but never getting close to a Slam. It's so different but I find it weirdly refreshing.

You really like him? Wouldn't it be awesome if all sportsmen were like him? How refreshing that would be. Yes I wish all sportsmen could have a meltdown over the wrong coloured towel and have temper tantrums that would put a toddler to shame. What a breath of fresh air. So boring watching people try their best and be respectful to the fans and officials. That's not what sport should be about.
Seriously, people declaring their love for this guy need their heads examined.
I would also add there are probably a heap of guys on tour phoning it in and just living life. Doesn't mean they have to be prize fückwits about it and act like spoilt brats.

@Rancid-Schnitzel I’m with you here. I wonder how many fans of him would accept the same from a talented AB.
-
because the expectations on top level individual and team athletes are exactly the same

The difference is that tennis isn’t a team game, he’s not letting down any teammates by acting this way.
And he’s not representing his country. It’s an individual sport.
anyone that gets angry about him or criticises people for liking him needs to grow up.
He’d be the most popular player with the younger generation easily, and he’s a nice bloke by all accounts. Makes time to chat with young fans and does quite a bit for charity apparently.
Watch the highlight reel, he’s very entertaining
