Blues v BI Lions

Some random thoughts:
-
The Lions are definitely in for a long tour. As long as the opposing midfielders remember that Gatland always uses the same umbrella rush midfield defence since forever, stronger packs will make their life very difficult.
-
Patrick T. I haven't watched may Blues games, but I assume he's doing something really bad. Not only that he missed training, but also that as an All Black he was only good enough to make the bench of this Blues tight five.
-
The Blues backs will be deadly when they eventually click.
-
Tana has had nearly two seasons with the Blues. Three quarters of the way through the Super Rugby season the Blues drift into short periods of the game with the urgency and cohesion of a team that just met in the tunnel. One more season to sort it out?
-
Halftime score a fair reflection.
Bring on the second half!

Gardner openly disagrees with TMO. That's not on.
Doesn't work well with others. Also has been acting on what he thinks (eg the Payne no try.) before the ref has made the actual call. Lions players look to have gained his sympathy and that's poor for a usually quality ref. -

Perofeta is playing bloody well considering circumstances. I see a lot of promise.
No. No he is not

Luata just ducked at point of contact, good decision from ref. But seen less get a yellow.
Gatland will be tamping. We should be two scores ahead.
Forwards done everything asked of them. Nice balance in all three rows.
Need to be more precise at lineout.
Webb, Daley, Halfpenny going well.
Biggar has stifled the midfield.
Nowell looks like a fan who's won the chance to play for the Lions. Yank him.
Great breakdown defence from Blues.
And like all NZ teams if there's a sniff, they breath deeply. And they did.
All about substitutions now.
-
@KiwiMurph he's not playing well, but given he is a kid with 1 super game playing against the Lions it is understandable

No. No he is not
He's been poor but still has shown a bit of promise.
-
Yeah, unfortunately Perofeta looks a bit out of his depth.
Luatua, SBW and Rieko Ioane looking good for the Blues. The forwards are getting beaten in the set piece though and this incarnation of the Lions looks a lot better than Saturday's lot.
My Blues by 13+ bet is looking a bit shit.
-
@MiketheSnow LOL if an All Black !are that tackle you'd be spewing.

@mariner4life He's been bloody good too!

You guys are fucking harsh on Perofeta. He has slow ball from a halfback who has slow service, its pissing down and he's dealing with a rush defence plus he has a 13 with no distribution skills.
I like the kicks in behind - it shows some vision. Yes he has made errors but he is 20 years old in his first start against what is effectively a test team.

Yeah that Webb is seriously impressive.
Any chance of Biggar starting the tests? Please.

Just going by the pictures but after the try was adjudged by the TMO he turned away and had a chat with a Lions player shrugging his shoulders seemingly in sympathy.
I'm obviously guessing but based on my reading of the body language and expression. It wasn't a good look. -

@Virgil read it again. I'm saying you give the benefit of the doubt to the Blues in that situation.
sorry mate saw a post from a NH poster and assumed it was a whinge! as you were...
Blues been pretty shit really, probably the only team that forces you to start channel surfing wondering if the Warriors are playing..
