@Tordah the ref has been okay. Both sides flying off their feet and I thank him that he isn't calling everything or this would've been terrible to watch.

usually the team in possession of the ball gets more leeway going off their feet, though. The counter rucking team flying in and sealing off the ball falling over it like that is penalised almost always

It was a good counter ruck, text book. Well, how the text should be. And if it isn't then the book should be rewritten so that that = rucking, like it used to be. And clearing bodies with shoulders = foul play, like it used to be.

Driving past the ball, they deserve a medal from the Ruck Appreciation Society.

Given the team put out im happy the Blues won. Glad Perofeta didnt fall apart after the error. Nice of Ranger to play his best game in a long time. Akira was really bad.

TJ Faiane was a class above tonight I thought. Hope to see him play more regularly next season. Ranger and Kara Pryor also played well. Don't know why Pryor was left out of the side for large periods of this season.

I saw Stafford say ticket prices were $60 for the bank and $250 for a seat. Outrageous prices, little wonder it was half empty.

Good to see the Blues get the win done. They've got the makings of a really good team - that first 10 minutes they were on point - but then they stray and start doing really dumb shit, it felt like they were tiring a bit just 20 minutes in. Much like the Canes of yesteryear, frustrating to watch.

Frustrating team to watch the Blues, that game sums up a lot of their 2017 season, individuals trying to do their own thing, putting I,before team.
I don't think I have seen an 80 minute performance from the Blues in 2017 ,explains why the have'nt beaten another NZ franchise in a very long time.

    Hard game to watch.
Nanai, Ranger, Pat T and TJ were good.

Really don't like this ref. He just seems to get flustered and let things go. eg. missing clear knock ons or players off their feet because play moves on quickly. Thought the penalty to disallow the Ioane try was a bit tough. Reds piled over and off their feet.
Don't really see how the offside line moves either because the ball stayed where it was. Surely they have blown past the ruck and out the other side. May have been technically correct but it needs to go in the stupid rule thread if it was.

Fully expect Nanai to be dropped for Collins next week. Instead i would be penciling him into the ABs EOYT squad.

@pukunui thought the official was very liberal at the breakdown, and your right,A Reds player was hit in a big tackle, and clearly lost the ball forward just outside the Blues 22.
From the next play the Blues conceded a penalty, which resulted in a try to the Reds from a lineout win and maul.

Mind you the Blues are their own worst enemies at times in and around ball retention and discipline when they haven't got the ball.

@African-Monkey As a huge Michael Mann fan, I recognise the Last of the Mohecans potential of Kara Pryor. He was injured for the season until now. Great link player. Could play 7 for international teams like Ireland and Scotland.

Ummm ... my lasting memory from this game ...

... and seriously I've never noticed it before and I thought you Blues guys were going all Winger and seeing conspiracies that didn't exist ... but ...

... jeez didn't TJ want the Blues to lose? It was palpable. As I say I've never noticed it previously, but I can now seewhere you guys are coming from.

Secondly am surprised at the very small crowd.

They did something wrong with the organisation compared to Suva.

Seats were $250 apparently, which is about a months wave. Standing tickets were $60. The blues priced themselves out.

Had no idea of the score and just clicked on this thread to check the result. Started reading from when the game kicked off. Have to say that was a highly entertaining way of finding out who won. Some seriously manic stuff there. Still no score though 🙂

That's how we roll on the Fern. Too busy trying to make our point, be comedians, rail on the players, abuse the ref, to worry about something insignificant like the score....

Interesting that Rieko seems to prefer left wing. Not a particular area of depth for us.

@booboo Yeah don't usually notice the biased commentary but did last night. Him and that other Canterbury turd Mel Robinson were commentating as if they had money on the Reds to win.

@African-Monkey And to demonstrate what a waste of space Robinson is, she didn't even know who the Reds captain was. When speaking to Quade at HT she said it was Kuridrani who had left the field not Kerevi.

I thought blues were very lucky to win that game. They played pretty poorly for mos t of the second half. The last scrum pk was extremely dubious.

Had the game on in the background but didn't get to catch too much of it. I bet the ref was shit though, or at least biased against the blues...

Collins was typically non-existent in attack.
