Some talk of a one on one AC challenge, ETNZ vs INEOS at the Isle of Wight in the near future. Sounds like fantasy, why would we want to give away all our home advantage? Would need to be for a shitload of money and even then the connection with the country would be critically broken
I reckon it will be a showcase type regatta not actually an AC.
Would make sense. Attract sponsorship and maybe even get some other countries interested.

Given the incredibly difficult year Italy has had with Covid, Team Luna Rossa were absolutely fantastic. So much respect for them.
fought so hard with what was eventually a slower boat. Great series, great racing, great fun. See y'all in 2 years
i hope its only 2 years, would be cool but any new teams wouldn't need longer wouldn't they?
depends if the class rules change. If not, there's enough knowledge aroudn to let people move to the next generation you'd think
I read that all three teams, but especially INEOS and ETNZ were keen to keep the current boat class. For the next regatta I'd like to see aussie Jimmy at the helm of a proper aussie team. C'mon aussies, where the bloody hell are ya?
Is the Challenger of Deed, or whatever it's called, already announced?
I guess it couldn't be until Cup was won... is there odds/rumours on INEOS having a pre-written agreement withETNZ?Apparently the commodore of the RYC was watching the race and will officially become the CoR either today or ASAP as per the rules
Probably done by now, they usually orchestrate a hangover as soon as the race is decided. Very very arranged marriage

id been keen to see that assuming there was enough money in it to basically fund a subsequent challenge, and it would have to be quick, wouldn't want to wait four years for that
could do the original course around the isle , completely different experience

Interest in the AC died here after the pitiful defence in 87. Didn’t help that they managed to sink a boat in 95 but even then I recall interest being lukewarm at best. Tbh I thought NZ would go the same way after getting mashed by Benedict Arnold Coutts but if anything it went the other way.

could be really interesting, Jimmy has been a good "villain" but we could do with someone new to shake our fists at

@kiwiwomble I've heard Bertarelli was keen if it was to be hosted in Europe, not so much if Auckland is 'the Home of the America's Cup'

Probably thinks that it will be easier to buy our team again if it isn't in NZ.

both helmsman thanking the race organisers straight away, nice touch
So are you on board now? They knew what they were doing re conditions?
Idiotic comments from someone (not you - that has probably never sailed on the Waitamata) about "sailing indoors" aside, the sailors and the organisers really did know what was best for the event / contest.
