Agreed. Good technical boxer but not ready for an athletic heavyweight

Went to the afl , and watched it on these cool TV screens that fold out from your seat ,
Looked lacklustre, he won't have too many of the top heavyweights having sleepless nights .

Maybe thats a good thing? Ppl avoided Tua like the plague when he was in his prime..

Rumors are getting louder that Tony Bellew could be his next opponent in England ,
Bellew is the best cruiserweight in the world , who recently came up to heavyweight ( probably looking for the better money fights) and defeated David Haye ,
Probably a good match up for both of them , Bellew is a smaller man with good boxing skills and good ring smarts ,
I probably lean towards Bellew going off his performance against Haye ,
put it this way Joseph will need to show more than his recent fights or i can see him getting outboxed -
Bellew talks a good fight , this is interesting , go to 3.40 where he and Eddie Hearn( promotor ) discuss Parker and Duco
-
@kiwiinmelb I can't agree with you about Bellew being the best cruiser in the world. He'd barely be top 5 that's why he went to HW to avoid challenges at CW and make himself look like a hero when he knows he's out of his depth there.
He got lucky against Haye where he was losing comfortably before Haye got injured mid fight.
It should be an easy night for Parker if this fight gets made.
-
@African-Monkey Ill put my hand up and say i havnt watched a lot of cruiserweight and may have been sucked in by his marketing people ,
But I still see it a s a danger fight for Joseph ,( who im struggling to get impressed by) but I guess they all are from here now ,
You watching the Canelo v Chavez jnr fight today ?
-
@kiwiinmelb Haha fair enough. The CW division is stacked at the moment and probably my favourite division along with HW. Also, it's possibly the strongest it's ever been and tbh, I would rather see Bellew back there taking on the likes of Usyk, Briedis, Huck etc but the money is better at HW so I can't fault him for wanting bigger paydays.
I though Parker did some good things last night, unfortunately it also showed that he may be lacking in power at the top level but he does possess some very good boxing skills.
Yup hope to catch it. Should be a cracker of a fight.
-
@African-Monkey my favourite area is around welterweight-junior middle- middleweight, love the skills , depth and quality
Canelo is probably my favourite fighter right now and contrary to popular opinion , I tip him to end triple g s reign if they can get that deal done ,
But today presents its own big challenge, Chavez bangs hard , and canelo has jumped from his usual 154 to 166 pounds to make this fight happen -
Surely the point of boxing is to win and maximise income? Couple of ways to do this.... win A LOT. Or have great stopping power. Tua had stopping power.... got him a title fight. Didn't make him a success. I think Parker is boxing clever. He knows that if he got tagged and lost any of these fights he would be set back years. It is a risk reward thing . His only goal last night was the win, it was not about impressing us.
I doubt he lacks power, I think he lacked a fight planto use that power as the risk wasn't worth it. -
It's official , the most anticipated fight in boxing is on ,
Golovkin vs Canelo 16th September

Interesting stuff - sounds as though Dean's side of things have been progressing more smoothly. Higgins had the Parker fight and the 10's, both ended up a bit limp. Even though they had the rug pulled out from under them with the Fury fight.
I think Arum holds the rights to Joe in the US - Higgins seems focused on the UK scene as that's where the majority of the action is.
Feel for Joe, maybe he needs a full change in management and coaching? Certainly doesn't seem to be learning any new defensive skills, and eventually that will catch up with him.

Higgins seems like such a twat.
