Parker v ??

Possibly but compared with MMA do you have to worry as much whether the result or effort can be called into question? Ever since I have been watching boxing a lot of results have been dubious from Olympic to pro. We all know Norton kicked Alis ass in that one fight but it went Alis way. Just one to come to mind. In the US I see MMA on the tele all the time. Hardly a sniff of boxing. And which title are they fighting for? WBA, IBF and I think there are another 2 organizations. WTF.

saw Barry saying Joe didn't execute the game plan with the double jab. I'm pretty sure that's the death knell for their partnership. Barry has publicly criticised his own boxer and it's usually the first sign of trouble.
He's right though. Parker needed to use the double jab. But I was right too, many months ago anyway. Barry does not have the strong enough personality nor the respect of boxer for Joe to trust the game plan.
Yeah I thought that was a bit strange ,
It was like Barry was protecting himself from criticism , and pointing the finger at Joe saying not my fault his fault ,
I do remember during the Takam fight , he was yelling at joe between rounds saying , do not go back to the ropes , and joe would go straight back there .

JP apologised to Barry after the fight so I think he's aware he (Parker) didn't always follow instructions.
I wouldn't read anymore into the comments from either of them.

Norton gave Ali heaps of trouble yet Foreman disposed of him pretty easily and we all know what happened when Ali faced Georgie Boy.....
I'm fascinated to see what will happen if Fury gets back to full fitness and takes on AJ or JP.

So what is Parkers future?
Can he realistically expect another shot anytime? From what I saw and read, he didn't really come close to causing Joshua any trouble.
If this had been a rugby match it would have been
NZ (AJ) v Wales (JP)
Wales / JP deserves to be in the contest; at times makes NZ / AJ look uncomfortable and vulnerable; but ultimately finishes the gallant loser.
But on their day, Wales / JP can beat Australia, SA, Ireland, England - Wilder et al, designate country to boxer at your leisure š - and will have subsequent matches / bouts.
-
This isn't like when Cameron was beaten by Tua and his career was effectively over. This was not a soul crushing defeat. It was a defeat that he can build on because he's only 26, a one time Champion that still has something to offer. Lightening hands and a top class chin. If he can just get a trainer that can rebuild his offence so that he has options when shit goes south he can make another title run for sure.

I think AJ needs to beat Wilder and Fury first then we can call him the ABs ,
All on track for him , but so far he has only beaten Wales and South Africa ( Vlad , used to be good but not any more )

Not sure if there are many MMA fans on this thread, but the AJ v Wilder match up & hype up reminds me of the recent Stiope Miocic v Francis Ngannou fight.
I think the boxing version will go the same way, with AJ in the Miocic role.

@kiwiinmelb agree entirely. Joshua did catch Joe with a couple of glancing blows - but he didn't show crazy power or anything. Maybe he'd have gone harder if Joe had shown more aggression or rocked him earlier. Joshua is a talented dude, no doubt, but his ring craft isn't quite as exciting as he looks.

There is only one current boxer i look at and think , how do you beat this bloke ? with a gun perhaps , and that is triple g at middleweight.,
Joshua deserves his top ranking , I donāt see that same level as invincibility I see in golovkin though , not yet anyway .

This surprised me a bit , didnt see it coming , Parker v Whyte , July 28
-
A mate of mine is pretty close to JP and mentioned this as most likely option a couple of weeks back. As a result I was quite surprised to see One News mention Jennings as next opponent.
Both fighters with the one and only loss, and to Joshua. Whyte currently slight fav in early betting markets,
-
Apparently they were in negotiation with Jennings ,
Likewise Whyte with Ortiz ,
But both were having difficulties coming to final agreements , Hearn and Higgins got talking , and made this happen instead , they say it wasnt long term planning , but because they know each other well , they were able to get it happening quickly .

Hey Fern pugilist fellas.
Ain't there a fight tomorrow?
What's the low down?Thereās a fight. It is on tonight. There could be a winner and a loser, maybe even both, maybe neither.
Whyte with a little trash talking, JP says heās coming in as the angry man.
Could be duelling windmills.
-
Hoping Parker can sit this guy on his ass. Needs to throw some bombs to be a risky but compelling option for Joshua.

Whyte wants an open, loose fight. Could be fireworks

Parker should win comfortably but don't be suprised to see Whyte win by robbery as you usually see on Matchroom run shows.
