He wasnt disgraced and the first fighter to take Joshua the distance ,

Joshua deserved his points win ,

Lots of suss things happen in boxing , nothing new there and in this case ,

We had the A side big money fighter , wanting to keep his distance and sit behind his reach advantage , and a ref rushing in to stop them fighting in close when they werent actually holding , but looking like ready to offload some big shots from in close ,

    mmmmmm

Parker just lacked a bit of size in there I thought. He fought well but lacked Wilder/Fury's size/reach to really trouble AJ. Had it 117/111 myself.

compubox is full of shit. Parker threw more punches than that. IMO Parker took it to Joshua but lacked a plan B(just like Tua) but unlike Lewis, Joshua barely came out on top. To be honest I gave Parker 8 rounds.

The ref is a disgrace and he looked after AJ. Parker will be back though.

Raz has someone taken over your account? 8 rounds?!? Seriously?

It's any boxing fight really. After three rounds some people had Parker up by 3, others had Joshua up by 3. People just see things radically differently.

Hope you make it safely back from your parallel universe

more and more people seem to be coming along for the ride. Deontay Wilder wants on but I know he's just trying it piss off AJ.

Absolutely the right type of guy to have all the belts. He's charismatic, smart, well spoken and physically has no equal. But I still think AJ lost the fight. But as said. you see want you want to see.

If Parker's plan was to get in close to negate Joshua's reach advantage, then the referee keeping wide separation would be awkward for that.

I'm not an expert and there are plenty that know more than me here. Honestly, I am probs bitterly dissapointed but I thought Parker was the busier fighter and his double jabs to the body were keeping him ahead. His T-Rex length arms did not allow him to score as much as he would have liked but his head movement and evasion was class. Joshua sat back on an infrequent jab, walking Parker down threw the right and walked back out again. That's how I saw it.

Does the fight say as much about Joshua and the general state of heavyweight boxing nowadays though? Lewis was very cautious to avoid Tuas hook and rightly so but at no stage did AJ even look like putting JP away. He boxed his way to a clear victory as opposed to adding to the 20 from 20 KOs....

Never seen a Parker fight where I thought, clever plan, good tactics. Ditch Barry. Forgettable boxer, no hope coach. And I reckon Parker can get into even better shape. And from what I say Joshua wasn't that troubled by inside work but he can be surprised by angles and sudden changes off either foot. Parker should be able to do that, shorter reach notwithstanding. Smaller waist faster lateral movements. Luckily, he is durable. Reading into Lennox Lewis' comments, I think the champ (who was a very clever boxer) agrees with me. In peak fitness you have the handspeed, you need better training, better tactics. Ditch Barry.

I thought AJ deserved the win but wasn’t great. Parker was better than I thought he would be but if you’re going to gift your opponent the first 3 or 4 rounds you’d have to be pretty confident of your tactics for the later rounds. I saw nothing to suggest Barry had given Joe any though.

Overall, hated the fight, though not because of either of the fighters, or the ref. Those fucking commentators. WTF? Do they have to go to classes to learn how to talk while their mouth is full of AJ’s cock? I thought rugby comms were bad...

Yep. Commentators full of wank and at the end of the day a really boring 'fight'. The heavyweight contest right before was way better.

@jc I changed it after the 4th round to our very own Mike Angove. Far more bearable listening to him.

As Carl Froch said on the UK Sky commentary, 'that's why it's called boxing, not fighting '

    Horses for courses.

AJ and camp had done their homework, recognised Parker's strengths and through boxing skill and ring & ref management negated most of his threat.

There's the old adage of 'a good gig 'un will beat a good little 'un.'

Add to that 'a man with a plan'.
