Good old push ups

Summer coming up so maybe a bit of friendly competition could be in order to help get those "beach" muscles looking good ( shame about the tan in my case )
How many "good" push ups can you jokers do ? by good I mean arms at least 90 degrees ( I put an apple on the ground and make sure my chest touches each time and my arms lock out too ).
57 yesterday lunch time and the DOMS is hurting like a motherfucker today.

@Hooroo I thought you worked on a farm ? ( well I know you have a desk job too )
Unfortunately the desk job is about 11 hours a day at the moment and then the farm work is mostly done apart from making up a few feeds which is more relaxing and unwinding rather than good exercise. (Better than no exercise though)
I find I am so hanging out for exercise, when I walk the buckets of feeds into the paddocks, I am doing curls or raises with them.

fkn heaps i reckon.
Used to do a couple of sets of 50 as warmup on chest day. Havent tried a marathon effort since a mate challenged me to a 100 a couple of years back while we were at a bbq and we both smashed them out.
Will be doing a lot more of them soon i reckon once I start doing these outdoor sessions again. They often call drop and you need to smack out 10 before can get up and run or lunge again. Pushups are like a rest when ya doing that stuff

Sorry, forgot to add the disclaimer that you have to be 100kg or over to enter this contest. Push ups are basically like lifting air at your weight.

Is that 57 without taking a pause? That's pretty impressive.

Broad bro....not fat ( well not compared to some....)
@Rancid-Schnitzel yep non stop, I find the trick is to keep going quickly ( whilst maintaining good form ) before the brain realizes you've had enough and you collapse in a heap.

dunno what my max is right now, but I do press ups pretty much every day.
In October I was doing clap push ups and got upto 36, am doing decline push ups at the moment (feet up on a dining chair) and did 35 last night, will hope to hit 50+
I make mine so my nose/chest touch the ground and arms straight at the top.

Do you reckon you can do pushups quickly while maintaining good form?
Didn't realise this was an exclusive club. I'll leave you f.. big boned people to it then.

Yeah I think so within reason. Like TR I do a few variations. The clap ones are always a great party trick. Not many people can do them.
Just preferably not on concrete..

I thought I was OK on push ups, not that I was ever into the 50+ club, but happy enough to pop out 30 odd in amongst a session, but then I got an ex Royal Marine training me. It seems I'd been doing them all wrong for years. i thought if I got low enough so my chest would hit my spotter's fist on the ground that was OK. No is the answer. I was just doing "civvy dips". My hands were in the wrong place, my elbows splayed out too much and did not track my ribcage and of course I was looking in the wrong direction.
With this guys tutoring I was able to go from doing 30 odd to struggling to do 10. Co-incedentally I now have a rotator cuff injury and recently had to have a hydrocortisone injection.
Fuck press ups

Pretty sure if you do get low that's fine ie much better than not making it all the way down and not locking out arms at the top ? it's a bit like narrow grip vs wide grip on bench, if the weight goes up it doesn't matter how ? that's my view anyway.
There's always a shitload of variations to get the chest pumped. Those that TR mentioned plus diamond ones, one armed etc.
