Wow just watched the Cheika presser.
The Wallabies are now like this brother in law that you used to enjoy inviting over and having a few beers and duking it out over the issues.
Now that brother in law has raised two kids who have no respect for anyone, and he objects to you telling his son off for shitting in the kitchen sink. It's not your place apparently - he will deal with it, and the sinks luminescence played a major factor.
What a terrible loser, of someone who has had plenty of practice.

@Stockcar86 I think that is a pretty poor piece from NZH, unnecessary. Just watched the presser, Cheika was out of line during the question about his opinion about the 18, he insinuated that the ABs were the ones disrespecting the Wobs via the paper. As far as being disrespected by the media I would agree but it is no different from the treatment we get in Oz. Didn't the media promote NZ-Oz games a year or few ago by wheeling out the old sheep shagger joke?
Yep , Matt Burke with his arm around a sheep telling it he'd keep it safe from the kiwis . MMM had a papier-mâché sheep on a trailer outside the abs hotel room with a loudspeaker in it blasting out kiwi jokes until the cops told them to bugger off. On second thoughts Cheika can get fucked , he is a clown .

Poor old Cheika - he's got a bit emotional. It's getting up there with Geoff Toovey and Eddie Jones for Japan. Probably should have had a slug of scotch before going into that press conference.
It's a tough business being an international footy coach. I wouldn't want to have been interviewed after some losses I've just watched on telly - let alone if I'd spent months coaching the team that lost.
He's going to rue that interview though - there's going to be creepy clowns popping up all over the show for him now. Here's a bit of Kipling for you Michael...
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools.... -

Hansen @8:01:
"you can't get all sulky about it, sometimes you've just got to man up and say that's what's happened".
Ex-fucking-zactly
This is about the Coles no try?
They regrouped well after that poor decision.

He seems like an emotional man who wears his heart on his sleeve, but you have to suck it up. I looked but couldn't find footage of GH's post-RWC 07 loss post match presser. He must have been crying and dying inside, that was a study in how to front up to a loss and say the right things. And yes I haven't forgotten we got TOTALLY HOSED in that game!!! (Fuck you Wayne Barnes!! ;))

Forget the RWC QF. A dead rubber Bledisloe.
Kieran Read spoke in the presser about every Test victory being important, and to be celebrated.
They are all celebrated but the bitter, bitter tears of a dead rubber Bledisloe only fill the cup so much.

I have no problem with Moore's comment. The media do pull some stupid shit and that wasn't necessary.
Just as the sheep ads, the dole bludger ads, the Richety Grub newspaper thing.....So, you either ignore it as being part and parcel of professional sport or make sure you point out the poor taste when your own media are doing it to the opposition.
Now, although it wasn't called for showing Cheika as a clown he certainly does bring a great level of comedy to the game. The expressions and arm waving have me laughing at the screen, especially the way every call against the Wobs gets that gobsmacked Hapuka look as if he just witnessed Reado peeling off another $20 from the roll in his shorts and handing it to the ref.
Dean Mumm provides fantastic comedy relief as well. His change of expression when running with an open try line ahead to the instant he realised he wasn't looking in the rear vision mirror was one of the funniest things I have seen on the rugby field this year. Thanks Dean.
As for the contentious decisions? I think the Wobs non-try was harsh. it was a stupid unnecessary action and definitely a penalty but can't say it affected the outcome. When you put your team in Veldsman's hands though anything can happen (as many a player over the years should know by now). I think Nigel lost confidence in Veldsman after that.
Who knows what would have happened if that score had counted but I would point out that unless it somehow increased the fitness levels across the Wobs for the duration of the game the result would have still gone to the ABs. At times they weren't even able to chase their own kick offs.
I haven't seen the press conferences yet so must go and watch for another laugh. -

Well, you sing when you're winning I guess.
NTA do you seriously believe that those comments were defensible given the ads that Seven, Fox Sports and the News Corp papers have run while he has been involved with the ARU?
Your national coach at best has the thinnest skin in the world and at worst is a total disgrace and makes Dwyer after the McRae incident look like a scholar.
Kearns and Kafer will be happy though first words out of Hansen's mouth were how Aussie are world beaters.
If Cheika is that upset about one editor calling him a clown imagine how entitled Hansen and Ted would be to sound off over an Aussie editor calling his skip a cheat.
-
Cruden those kicks were fucking awful. Owen, it doesn't have to be a ritual to give away the first penalty of the game for offside.
Funny how the last couple of games we've lacked organisation around the breakdown on defence and been soft there...and TJP is getting praised for tidying up. Methinks it's possibly got a fair bit to do with lacking Smith's organisation?
Loving the 4 try swing by Aussie player stupidity and then cutting away to the coach acting like a moron. Maybe if the coach tries to act a bit more classy and responsible the players will follow suit? Just a suggestion eh. 2 tries to us from players making dumb decisions to cut in on defence, 1 more from a player standing to the left of midfield scrum, closest to the opposition halfback and winding up to kick off his right, the closest point to the closest player. Then DHP being an idiot when he had absolutely no need to. Yay coach!

Nup. And I'm pretty sure I never said they were.

I got shot down earlier in the year for suggesting that Cheika's manner, attitude and sloppy look rubs off on the team. I still think it is true. If your coach is constantly looking to blame other things and pulling faces at decisions that gives the players an easy out despite him then claiming responsibility for mistakes. It is mixed message stuff.

OK then deal with the comments at hand. Cheika is a poor sport, amongst other things he accused the All Blacks themselves of planting the bug story in the press and depicting him as a clown.
He was asked about his comments in regards to a team breaking the Teir 1 winning record and his reaction is to accuse the NZRU of editiorialising both the NZ Herald and SMH.
He has an 8 minute presser and spends 6 minutes doing that.

And yet, that is probably the best we've played all year.

@rotated 6 of the 8 minutes? Really? I wasn't writing down a blow by blow.
He spent some of the time saying how fantastically the ABs were performing, and how the Wallabies had to own their own mistakes, as them talked about the no-try incident. Seems that he'd have trouble squeezing all that info two minutes, while letting Moore speak as well

Funny sort of test match with it being a pretty good contest, but the outcome being so one sided where it counts - on the scoreboard. Winning by 20+ against another Tier 1 nation is to be celebrated and I will never tire of them even when we don't play outstanding footy throughout the test match.
Impressed with our defence as the Wallabies did vary the attack (which was pretty good in patches) and we showed tonight that this unit can scramble well.
What about Sam Whitelock playing the last 15 or so on one leg. We had already exhausted all subs so he hobbled through it.
I had the sound on mute, but did Retallick go off right at the end for a concussion test?
It was great to see Cruden back out there running around, but what was up with his kicking? He was taking the mickey surely, because they were appallingly bad.
Anyway there really isn't that much to complain about, other than first world rugby problems, when your team wins a Bledisloe test by 27. Well done ABs
