Brumbies first five Noah Lolesio is out for about 8 weeks with a hamstring injury. Hopeful to be back for finals of the Super Rugby Aus comp.

You have to wonder sometimes. Here's an organisation that's broke and they want to throw $1 million a year at an unproven 16 year old.

@akan004 I have a feeling that's an inflated figure if he somehow hit all his incentives/bonuses.

You might be right. You would hope that's the case anyway.

Yea the Daily Telegraph is hardly the best news source

A RA spokesperson told ESPN that a deal had not been done and that the reported million-dollar-a-season figure was "off the mark".

An Ozzie talking sense. 'The Next Big Thing' (TM) is such a ridiculous feature of the Australian footy landscape. Whether it is a poached leaguey or some young guy. Rather than put the time and effort into good systems, they're always after the next Ockker Jesus.

Australia's obsession with talent: 'Someone puts in a good performance and all of a sudden they're the next Wallaby'

Australia's obsession with talent: 'Someone puts in a good performance and all of a sudden they're the next Wallaby'

Brumbies coach Dan McKellar has hit out at the instant-star syndrome enveloping Australian rugby, saying the best Wallabies players will earn their stripes the hard way.

Yeah of course we are. But it's not just an Aussie thing, every sport loves a young prodigy. Why wouldn't we? It's just a game after all, and the potential for a young kid to be great is something we can all get behind.

I can understand why coaches and current players are exasperated by it, but we all KNOW it's not really based in reality. It's hope, it's expectation, it's the unknown. And for a nation starved of meaningful rugby success it's something that we can grab onto. Why deprive us of that?

i'm not sure McKellar should be using locks as an example - almost all the experienced Aussie locks are either injured or have left the country. They have to pick some young blood there.

Wallabies test centurion Rob Simmons has confirmed he will leave the New South Wales Waratahs at the end of the Super Rugby AU competition to take a deal overseas.

Simmons has been linked with a move to English Premiership club London Irish where is expected to form an all-Australian second row with Wallaby Adam Coleman.

Simmons, who took over the Waratahs captaincy after Wallabies flanker Michael Hooper gave it up pre-season, said it was a "tough decision" to leave but time for a new opportunity.

Where you seeing that? Wouldn't be a good development - he's a hell of a winger.
