Firstly, did that happen?
Foster made a comment that he was disappointed Sotutu didn't answer the phone. The media ran with the story that Foster was pissed with Sotutu. Foster clarified to some in the media (Parsons in particular) that players miss calls all the time and it wasn't an issue.. he was disappointed he missed the chance to explain the situation to Hoskins before it was in the media
The fake version sounds better.
Remember, don't let the truth get in the way of a good story.

For right or for wrong, they view Sotutu as a bit of a sulker- a flat track bully.
During the selection process, Robertson sat down with players and pored over match footage, while ahead of the squad naming, assistant coach Jason Ryan made it clear the selectors would be analysing players’ body language when the going got tough.
“We believe Wallace is an incredible young talent, the harder the game, the higher he rose in regards to his performance,” Robertson said.

Social media etiquette should not be a criteria for AB selection.
I don't think anyone said it should be. But think about it like this:
If you were a coach, and a player refused to answer a phone call explaining his non-selection, and went on to make a cryptic social media post moaning about it, would you be more or less likely to be inclined to select him in the future?
One thing we seem to have learned is that Ryan/Razor seem to hold grudges.
To answer your question - if I thought someone could add to my team's perforamnce, I would do what it took to get them engaged. Writing people off is what bad managers do. Getting the best out of different people and personality types is a strength I expected Razor to have (in particular). Arguably Hansen had it. Henry definitely had it.
I don't think I disagree with any of that, but I think the bold text probably explains it. I don't think they see Sotutu as being better than Savea at 8, so therefore felt he was out of their plans.
That's a fundamental shifting of the goalposts though. You argued above that it was attitude and sulking that was the issue - that is not the same as 'not good enough'
-
Sevu Reece and Shannon Frizell have both beaten up women, but it is Akira Ioane and Hoskins Sotutu who always have their names dragged through the mud as if they are bad eggs so don't deserve selection. People have lost their fucking minds.

I think as I have tagged above though, they view his attitude and sulking as part of the problem.

How do you think they view beating up women? That's A OK?

Probably the same way as you or I would view it - grub behaviour.
-
@No-Quarter and I would have preferred neither of them ever got near an AB jersey as a result. Not like they were ever outstanding but even if they were.....

They have good body language on the field though.

It's funny how big a whipping boy Caleb has become. The way he is spoken about you would think he was rusted in to the jersey for a decade, and keeping generational talents out of the team. He played 14 tests in like 6 years. He did manage to score 9 tries in those 14 games too.
I remember sitting in the stands in Wellington 2003 when the ABs played Dallaglio's England. This woman behind me was going on about how Caleb was better than Jonah. I wanted to laugh and strangle her in equal measure. Jonah was twice the player Caleb was, even when he was hooked up to dialysis

lol shit, i thought some people had a go in here. No one hates the ABs more than Hamish Bidwell. Even by his own phenomenally low standards, his last article on the Roar is pretty terrible.

@Machpants said in All Blacks EOYT:
Ignore the first third or so about the French not turning up, some good loose forward analysis
I'm not sure we're in a position to be getting our knickers in a twist just yet. There's the distinct possibility their second team could give us a real contest.

I felt it would be a hell of an effort to make me dumber, but Bidwell managed it.
For those that haven't had the pleasure:

The peice somewhat echoes what has been written on here doesn't it? Apart from the wanting ABs to lose bit. Or am I missing the point again?
-
Yeah, can't say Im upset with Bidwell here, feels like it has been lifted from the fern. It s an opinion piece and if he has actually asked Razor and his management army the hard questions even better. I suspect none of that has happened though.
The risk is , if you never offer anything constructive in all your previous pieces then it could come off as a hater, but just in this context given so many of us want to know, why take Proctor to carry drinks only? other than perhaps he makes a mean old fashioned?, does Finau actually get another shot?, does Ardie get a shot at 7? all questions I have seen posted that we dont have answers for. then I think he reads the fern and although we are a bunch of dumb polish chicks, even we can be right every now and again. -
yeah, dont think i would ever go so far as HOPE we loose...but i agreed with some of the ideas leading him to that conclusion, feel like ive missed something
-
I don't think anyone here wants the ABs to lose like Bidwell does
-
@brodean said in All Blacks EOYT:

no...but thats just the sensational "gotcha"....its all the arguments he puts forward leading up to thats not far off what we see around here
-
Maybe you have to read every article since the start of the international season to get an idea about what his agenda really is (hint, he fucking Haaaaates DMac)
But to start with "i hope we lose by shitloads so the coaches can pick who i want" is a fluffybunny move from a supposed journo. Then he basically goes on a long rant about the two old heads (a rant he's had before).
-
i have to say im always surprised when some of you differentiate between one journo and another....i almost never actually look whos written it and if i do i doubt i would bother to remember, i read stuff...and agree or disagree, maybe critique how theyve written it...then promptly forget most of it...honestly dont think i could tell you the vibe or angle any particular journo has
