Numia should be there for De Groot. He's in awful shape currently, way down on fitness and it's currently affecting his scrummaging, not to mention how extremely sluggish he is around the field these days.

Clearly, and I don't mind him either when fit, but man, he looks well off the pace.
He's one of those guys who needs to keep playing no matter the level because he seems to fall badly out of shape when he isn't.

Yeah I agree and I wonder if that's a factor for Papali'i. He put some weight on for the Blues season but the ABs are not playing that bruiser style of game. Maybe why he's out of favour?

I remember the game de Groot played for Southland against Canterbury, and he was sucking in the big ones after 10 mins.

He's not our only prop sucking in oxygen. Williams doesn't look much better if there isn't a stoppage.

The other factor with DeGroot is - scrummaging dominance doesn't seem to have as much of a payoff in the current test climate - if you can avoid getting penalised (or penalised minimally) then there's much greater value to be had in the loose & llineout/restarts as a lifter. In other words there's much better value in a prop who is great in the loose and adequate in the scrums than visca versca*
*Of course I'm generalising and tests against England/Ireland/France in successive weekends may challenge that theory

Somebody needs to explain things to the little lady.Well in a 'development team' TJP helps with the development of NZ rugby, I think he has alot to offer the next tier of players.

You guys are going to love this one.
Expect to see TJ Perenara on the EOYT according to the extremely reliable contact. He will not be going to Japan until December because he’s going on the end of year tour.
Anything else I hear I’ll continue to throw in between now and then. I hope this isn’t true as much as the rest of you but as I always say, I’ll post anything juicy that’s worth sharing.

Ethan de Groot forever has looked like he was sucking in the big ones. That's just how he is, some people always look more shagged than others. I don't now how many times it needs to be said, the tight five is not an issue for the All Blacks.

I asked who was missing out but they didn’t know. If I was to guess, Hotham would be with the AB XV and potentially joins ABs as an extra/apprentice after his duties with the AB XV are done. This is my speculation here about who misses out, not saying that’s what’s happening. Just doesn’t add up to take TJP at all.

I could be wrong, but I reckon they'll send an advanced party to England. That will probably include some of the guys who will start all three of those middle tests. Would not be surprised if on top of the 36, some of the NZ XV players are in Japan as cover.

He looks more shagged than usual, he needs to get fitter.
Don't recall saying that the tight 5 was an issue, Ethan De Groot's fitness though, at present, is.
