If we win Bled 2, are you happy heading into the end of year tour?

@gt12 agree mate, although it maybe fact, I can never accept where we lose a few tests in year as better than OK!
Not saying I don't understand the reality or anything, just how I always feel, any loss is not end of the world, but disappointing none the less.
One of reasons I don't go with the lets bring in all the young uns for the future, these are all still test matches! The results are disappointing because he keeps selecting the same underperforming players with the same results, and won't give form SR players a proper trial run. And undeserving Saders homeboys to bulk out the squad
I might just cut and paste this and put it in the Black Caps thread

I'd give a C
should do betterD, loss to arg, not enough growth of future players, and 0-50 in the time traditional AB teams dominates and win.
This is going to sound really dumb, but in that RG game I loss we were way better than them they just scored more points. .
Yep. Freak game where we absolutely gifted them two tries... that second one with the two passes particularly was just so bizarre and swung the momentum.
Only two?
I had the Creevy try (two passes out the back) and the Carreras try on half-time (The Reece tap back) don't remember us 'gifting' any others?
Would have to go back and watch, but my gut feel was there was bullshit in the phases prior where we gave them possession and territory, not just in the phase that they scored in.
It's all gut feel, but in my opinion we allowed scoring chances for them, despite being so much the better team.
As I recall, we were better, they scored more points.
Am not surprised we smacked them by 40 the next game, because we were that much better.
But it does come down to who scored more. There's no style points.

I called it a nadir in an earlier thread. We are so low in our national sports right now

Playing Cane these last 4 tests has been a lost opportunity for developing a replacement whether it be Papali'i, Jacobson or Savea at 7.
We lost the two South Africa tests anyway so how did it benefit us?
Any of the 7 contenders is good enough to beat the Wallabies with.
This sentimentality for the old warrior is BS. If we'd won those two tests in SA I'd be singing a different tune.

NZ Rugby is in massive trouble from the top down.
I havnt seen anything this year to alleviate my fears.
The Irish French and South Africans have fresh talent coming out of their ears and we are stuck in the mud.
The Allblacks got to the RWC final on muscle memory alone. It was a death rattle.
We look a beaten docket.

18 months ago we didn't have a front row / scrum. Now we do. That's huge.
Vaai is sorting out the lineout.Well done Foster then eh.
In all seriousness, Vaai is an example of how to develop a player over a couple of seasons. Foster spotted something there, tried him in several positions, kept faith, Ryan carried on the good work and Robertson had a relatively experienced player to work with when injury hit and he was able to step up.
If only we could do the same in other positions like 10, 12, 13 15...

Yep. And I think we have enough experience and depth at 7 to bring the likes of Lakai into the 23 on the EOYT.

Or they could do as they've done with Sotutu, Proctor...

Scotland and Wales won't be too happy going into the end of the year, this year would have been a golden opportunity for them to beat us.
Japan or Italy might burst their All Blacks cherry.

@Jet I think we'll be Quarter Finalists at best in the next two World Cups. The Golden era for NZ Rugby is well and truly over.
Look how fast the Foster era turned around when Schmidt and Ryan came on board. There is hope, we have some very good players. But so far Razor is not picking them and IMHO not quite playing a style that translates to test level. But to me it feels like a few tweaks in gameplan and personnel and we could right things dramatically

We are going to be fine.
We need a few strong personalities to steady the ship and I can see a lot of promise in Williams, Vaai, Sititi , Roigard and Ratima. -

I don't know if the rumours about Schmidt not wanting to work with Robertson are true or not, but NZR were besotted with the idea of a fresh start with Robertson at the helm for 4 years and must have known they were losing key expertise and experience NZR have made their bed and it's up to them to support Robertson in any way they can.
The last thing we need is another man-management debacle like we had with Foster last year. No coach deserves that.

I don't think it's that bad that it can't be turned around in a year or two, though clearly changing the coach wasn't the simple magic wand many were led to be believe.
A fresh look after the EOYT and a reassessment of what the coaching setup needs to move things forward would be a good start. Maybe get grey-hairs like Vern Cotter working with Robertson on a more day-day basis.

I think the quarter final victory is doing some serious heavy lifting in our perceptions of where we are at.
Ireland beat us 7 or 8 times out of 10 these days in my opinion.
We won the important game, sure, but I dont think it accurately reflects the trends of both nations.
