All Blacks 2024

@ACT-Crusader ok, Ponga was a rugby prodigy and I believe still is one of the most gifted players in either code. He has a very complete game, much more rounded than Benji. But it’s something we may never see not worth the argument.
-
@Landers92 fair enough, it looks like Brad thorn was 26 when he switched. 2 years younger.
-
@Jet I do like Robertson. I get the feeling his passion for stats and defensive stats at that has him thinking crusader ball will cut it. You need some of those big explosive players who give you a point of difference and some power. I sure hope he gives Sotutu a go on the end of year tour and a more confrontational power forward. Aucklands game plan seemed to provide a good platform for international test matches.

Personally I think Roigard will give the Boks kittens and have no idea why Foster omitted him from the RWC final. This is the same guy who ran 60 meters from the base of a ruck and skinned 5 of their players 3 weeks earlier. He would have definitely kept them guessing with that fresh in their memory.
For a bloke who's played 3 Tests, started 1, and scored a solo try in the dying moments against a Bokke team physically knackered from giving the AB's an absolute thumping in essentially a exhibition match, Roigard sure seems to have morphed into an absolute AB legend capable of singe-handedly turning around the AB's fortunes.........
Terrific potential though.

Ive seen enough already. 4 tries at the world cup, the 60 meter job against SA and was playing super rugby like it was in slow motion until his injury. Massive left boot too.
Generational talent.

I don't need to, his exceptional talent is obvious to see. Can't wait to see him back in the Black / Black and Yellow jerseys.

A couple of points which seems to be an overall trend of the AB's rather than game specific comments.
-
Our attack is ok, we're scoring more than enough points to win games, I'm getting increasingly annoyed at the commentary that "We had chances to put away the game (i.e. score more points), but didn't take them". We shipped 38 against the Argies, and 31 against SA. If the thought is that if we just simply score 50 points a game and we will win, well goodness me - that's not smart or realistic thinking in the slightest. Which leads us into...
-
Our defence and disclipline has cost us badly, our poor disclipline has lead to us playing a lot of the game in the crunch moments in our own half. Our goal-line defence off the pick and go close to the line in particular has been awful, what makes this worse is that bashing the ball in close to the line is a low risk attacking method. We aren't asking teams to take chances or use high-risk plays to score points because they can bash through us playing low risk rugby This has to be fixed immediately or we will continue to lose games.
-
Our bench as a whole, quite simply has been dreadful. The quibble isn't even the fact that they're coming on and having no impact but the fact that they're making things CONSIDERABLY WORSE when they get onto the field. It's very odd because if you look at the players they are all "impact" players.
Whether it's because they can't fit into the systems (player issue), or know the systems so they can fit in (coaching issue) or simpy dion't have the skills or temprement to fit into the game plan and execute (player and coaching issue) I really don't know. What I do know however is that when it comes to the use of the bench we are being outsmarted tatcially and executionally and ultimately that falls on the coachs.
So it's defence and the last 20 minutes of the game that are costing us dearly and we won't start a winning trend until we fix these.
Sounds like Wales
Ooh, that cuts deep.

Christ that’s more foresight than Nostradamus

@Jet what a nightmare if I’m a forward. No way I can drift off him. Deceptively quick off the mark and so powerful Through the hips. He is definitely a problem for defenses and his mere presence creates opportunities. That’s such a get with defenses today.

Can't wait until he's back, I hope he's close to 100%

@canefan there was talk he might be ready for the end of year tour which would be great. I kind of hope they take Sotutu to have a good look too. It would be good to see him tested in test footy.
Yeah I hope the door isn't closed for Sotutu. Based on performance, things should be wide open for places
-
@canefan I wish Iose was bigger, cause he’s a good 8 too. Regarding Sotutu, his tackle stats, number of runs was down on Satitis, Jacobson and others but his try assists, try’s and line break assists were the best of the lot. He also provides a jumper at line out time, more size in maul defense. I think with an attacking ABs side he will add xfactor. You surround him with your hard workers.

The numbers can be misleading as well. If they see he's got work ons, what better place to do that but in ABs camp on a three week long tour? He's not a project player, I assume they just want him to polish up some areas
