Then using that logic, Kwade also deserves every bit of it. -

Kane Douglas has all the hallmarks of a battered woman. He willingly stayed in a close physical relationship with Franks for the next 73 minutes and wore sunglasses at the after match to hide the wounds.

That's just enabling Franks' monstrous behaviour.
-

When watching the Jonah tribute games on Sky last year I was amused to see Sean Fitzpatrick getting booed every touch he made in Pretoria in a NZ v Sco game - 95 RWC.

For having the temerity to attack Le Roux's mouth with his ear a few years earlier, of course ...... -

His initial tweet was defensible (although the interest he takes in the foul play on this particular incident from this team is worth noting) but after a bit of needling his true colours came out. That's the issue?

There has always been this impression tha BOD (along with Hastings, Wood, Jones and many others) have a simmering disdain for NZ. He gits a bit of stick and he shows just how thin his skin is. His replies were pretty pointed - it's not like called them fluffy bunnies and told them to fuck off.

BOD poked for the same reason the NZ fans and now media are - they have a long standing grievance. Long may it continue. He ended is diatribe by saying he is coming out for Lions tour (I assume as an analyst) - hopefully he makes it through at least the first test this time.

Having read Gav's ( admittedly quite boring ) book he was pretty good in his praise of NZ, he said a lot of players were in awe of how they went about their rugby and that NZ was ahead of the world in their training and skills, still the book is about 20 years old, he might have turned into a whinging fluffybunny in that time.
-

He's a Scot, of course he's a miserable whinging fluffybunny

I might have mentioned this before, an aussie mate of mines Mrs at the time was South African and she hated Fitzpatrick with a passion. We once quizzed her on it and she gave the example of Fitzpatrick having bitten a bok players ear! She actually grew up believing that, we had to re-educate via the medium of youtube. Still hates him though -

I doubt he cares what Kiwis think of him. His street cred etc is all in the NH, and a little anti-NZ tweet is likely to increase that.

because he's always been a coward

I saw Farr-Jones awhile ago serving as a pundit for some live rugby event - probably the World Cup.

He was dressed very casually and drinking a beer. Somehow the pundits then went through into a studio - Farr-Jones took his beer with him. That impressed me. :)
-
I've seen NFJ at a couple of lunches and he's excellent. Loves an ale and a chat, and has great old school touring stories (like poaching salmon in Scotland)

So are we allowed to boo Owen Franks for the next 6 years now?

I mean he attacked our player in a viscous manner and got away without any punishment...

Quite the wordsmith for a Barbarian: you mean attacking with a thick, sticky consistency?

That would be enough to deserve some abuse. -

Have Douglas or Poite spoken up? I suppose Poite wouldn't regardless but Douglas' silence on the matter, both during the game and after seems to indicate it wasn't as bad as some are making it out to be. The question then becomes, if it wasn't a gouge is it still foul play? It's like a tackle that rides the line between legal and illegal in that is becomes an inkblot for your own personal biases.

NFJ is a legend, and I say that as someone who suffered a great deal of personal anguish and abuse due to the achievements of the team he captained. The difference between him and Elsom, Horwell or Moore is vast. In fact vast is a woefully inadequate word to describe the difference between them.

To me NFJ epitomises everything that is great about rugby union.

BOD on the other hand....

If he wants to bitch about the decision then fine, plenty of people here aren't happy with it either. But having a go at the entire country is just sad. I guess the one good thing about the rancid sewer that is Twitter is that it's a fine way of exposing what Willis certain people are. Not that BOD needed any help in that regard.
-

NFJ is all but unimpeachable. Apart from his name...I called him Dick Fart-Jones as a kid, with his sidekick Michael Vagynagh.
