It would be a disaster if he appointed Scott Barrett as captain. Apart from the fact it would make Robertson look like he's unable to look outside his Crusader mates - its already bad enough with Richie and Sam. Scott would almost be the final straw for me.

Please pick Scooter. Please pick Scooter. Just please.

I'm a big Ardie fan, but his captaincy hasn't been great. I'd pick Scott, and I wouldn't care that he goes on a sabbatical next year. That's my prediction

Hope Robertson makes his choice on a long-term basis and not just on sabbaticals. Wonder if he'll pick a permanent VC as well.

England dealt blow as George Ford OUT of Tests against Japan and All Blacks

George Ford has been ruled out of the mid-year Tests against Japan and New Zealand due to a pre-existing Achilles injury.

You would assume they are selecting 4 locks so Strange was always going to be a good chance as the fourth lock. Hopefully Lord is close to full fitness by July.

Hopefully he learns some of the laws of rugby in the interim. Olympic level stupid.

…..and to think people in other threads were whinging about Norm Maxwell, Todd Blackadder and Isaac Ross.

Who the fuck was whinging about Maxwell?
Nothing to whinge about there - well aside from the fact he’s a Northlander who played for the Crusaders.

    I wasn't 'whinging' about Maxwell

The question came up is 2024 the thinnest the ABs have been at lock and I brought up Maxwell and Blackadder in 2000, others brought up Isaac Ross.

I'm not sure where the big issue is.

Maxwell was the thinnest. Or maybe Maling.

what about that time we played Jerome Kaino at lock vs the Irish? I mean, they'd never beaten us, so surely it wouldnt' start in an exhibition match in Chicago right?

I'll leave that to one of the Northlanders or cyclops on here.

How deep into the barrel must the All Blacks look for their next lock?

How deep into the barrel must the All Blacks look for their next lock?

The famous black jersey will be missing two of its most renowned servants in 2024, with both Sam Whitelock and Brodie Retallick now aboard.

    @Duluth That's a reasonable assessment.

That must be an old weight for Darry - looks a good 10kgs heavier to me. Assuming so, that's the dimensions I'd be looking for in a lock.

In an interview last week, Scott Barrett said he'd have been 50-50 to play if there had been a game at the weekend, so that's promising for England.

Yes. He's had the same weight listed on the Blues website since 2021

He's clearly put on weight in the last few years
