@antipodean That's 33! Think Lakai might be in if Cane not yet hundy. For me Cane (or Lakai)/Paps/Finau/Akira/RD/Hoskins.
Accept logic of three 9s, but hard to pare down to five loosies.

@Bones I was going to say Narawa, but I have a sneaking suspicion Fihaki might get called up.

Need someone who covers wing and fullback. Stevenson, if fit, would cover that. Prefer ALB to Havili.

Good point, I should've kept count as I dazed at the crystal ball. Might be easiest to restrict the back three positions to make 32.

@antipodean Or just use some Silver Lake moolah to stretch to 33!

I think there'll be more Crusaders in the squad than most of you are predicting

@Duluth I'll leave @ACT-Crusader to do the honours.

    @pakman

Robertson clearly has the hots for Havili though so I think we'll see him in the squad to cover 10 & 12. Going forward, I'm keeping an eye on Quinn Tupaea - he seems to be getting back to some good form.

@Victor-Meldrew Bryn Hall a few rugby pods ago said the Razor likes to have a few of his 'supporters' in the sheds to facilitate the message. Havili and Reece are about the only two Saders backs showing enough to be considered!

And why Bower might also squeeze in.

Can't see the point of selecting a player who won't play Super Rugby in 2024 or 2025. You are effectively selecting a player from overseas. May as well get Mo'unga and Retallick in that case.

I'd select Cane. He's a 95 test AB and AB captain who was playing excellent rugby at the World Cup.

Get a young loosie (I.e. Lakai or whoever) around the squad for the year to soak up knowledge from Cane then transition in 2025.

Presuming the coaching staff are conservative for the England series:

I think the additions to the front rowers club may be solely Numia for Laulala and Aumua for Coles. Locks will be Barrett, Tuipulotu and two others (hopefully McWhannell). Cane, Sotutu, Papali'i, Finau, Savea, Ioane as backrowers (Lakai to come in after England are dispatched). Halves are TJP, Christie and Funaki. First fives are DMac and Beaudy with Havili in the team covering positions in midfield too. Midfielders are Jordie, Rieko, Havili and Proctor. Back three will be Reece, Clarke, Love, Tele'a and ..?

A some of those selections will not be in the squad I reckon.
Ioane won’t be there or Funaki
    Darry more likely than McWhannell.
The rest I think will be there.
Bower a big chance under Ryan as well.

ETS is another who could be in with a chance if he carries on his strong form in two positions. Probably a better winger than Stevenson.

@Duluth Bower, Taylor, Newell, Williams, Strange, Grace, Hotham, Havili, Reece, McLeod?

Those are the options I could see realisticly making the squad.

Obviously Ioane isn't liked by the coaches but is Funaki not either or is that just your opinion? Fair enough if it's you're opinion, just curious haha.

Can't see how Sotutu and Finau aren't guaranteed.

    Oh and Barrett...

@African-Monkey Ioane clears way too many rucks for a Blackadder fan.

Feel like Sotutu has been given quite a few chances and not stepped up. He's in great form but is he showing any of the assets this year that have been missing in the past? I think he's largely been doing the stuff he's always been good at but just taking it to the next level.

Obviously a new coaching group though, so can definitely see him getting picked - but don't think he's guaranteed.

I'm not expecting Ioane to be selected. Ryan is still the forwards coach, who didn't want him last year, and he doesn't appear to be the type of loose forward Robertson likes.

If Sotutu doesn't make it, there is clearly something wrong at this stage (the finals will show much more). I think he might even force a position change for AS if his form continues to the next level.
