@Bovidae Any chance they will move Jacobson to 7?
I doubt it. Boshier is probably his no.7. I said that Parker at 7 was a mistake - not his fault. The Chiefs had very little pressure on the Qld breakdown. Just a flat performance. Even the bounce of the ball didn't go their way.

Was that not a knock on and offside?
That was so obvious in real-time. I bet the TMO was wearing a Qld jersey.
That and the head knock call into question their professionalism.

Haven't seen the game, but did Jacomb get on? I am guessing he did from the comments about DMac at 15 during the thread.

He replaced Ioane in the 71st min. I can't remember Jacomb being too involved though as the play went through DMac.

McMillan's selections and sub decisions were poor.
I'm watching the game and thinking...WHY? Why put DMac at the back and JI in at first receiver? No beef with JI but why put the best first-five in the comp at the back at Ballymore with a strong Reds team?

Ioane moved to 1st 5 against the Brumbies too, and created a couple of tries. I had no problem with that. But the big problem is that he lacks any distance in his kicks which is exposed at fullback. DMac is dangerous counter-attacking from deep.
Clearly, TTT is a distant third in the halfback ranks and shouldn't feature in the important games. Not having either first-choice winger makes a huge difference as the Chiefs don't have depth in those positions.
The scrum was disappointing and had been solid so far.

Dmac defended a lot at 15. From what i watched he had a lot of opportunity to run at the Qld forwards, and I'm thinking "awesome!", who did a great job of shutting him down.
Will try and watch the replay an read the thread and see how different the live experience is v telebision.

Random thoughts.
Did the TMO look at the head clash?
Watching the replay now. That head on Parker just before the penalty at about 38 mins ... fuck me!
What you got to do to be sent off?
Faaark. Didn't see it live ( saw big collision ) but replay on screen... head on head, with force, no mitigation ...
Let's me accept the Finau hit on Lynagh later on.

and that's modern rugby. It's a harsh crackdown in theory, but in practice it's dice rolling. And that brings out the frustration and 'what aboutery' ... seeing similar incidents get treated very very differently.

Sheesh, the Reds just seem to be the bogey team for the Chiefs, they just seem to have a defensive pattern that the Chiefs find hard to break down.
The Reds did a great job on D and seemed to only give the Chiefs the ball at the wrong end of the field.
As a Chiefs fan i was dissapointed at the lack of go forward on attack, especially out of the forwards, but credit to the Reds they were hitting a rock wall of defense.
I can only but hope no other team pays any attention to the Reds defensive system and doesn't replicate it at all for the rest of the year

@Windows97 it's funny because the Waratah's seem to have the Crusaders number, and the Brumbies seem to have the Canes number recently. Certain styles of rugby obviously work against certain sides.
