@Chris On a similar topic - do you think it was the right call to play Chapman over Neesham last night?
Jimmy is on his way out - but, I think he was more likely to hit 30 off 10 balls than Chapman - if that was what was needed, and it was always likely to be.
Neesh will go down as a real unfulfilled talent for me.
I thought he had the potential to be one of the world’s top all rounders.

I see your point maybe 50/50 call I think,,But I do like Chapman as well he hits clean with nice fast hands.

fringe selection didn't matter once we didn't get Kohli early. Not only does he have a frankly ridiculous record, of the 50 games where he has scored a hundred, India have won 42 of them.
Only 8 times having the delicious feeling of a hundred in a losing effort must sting a bit

Yeah - we needed that lbw review where he got a little inside edge. Shubman had an early inside edge that just missed leg stump ad went for four.
I think it was Rohit who cut wide of point in the air.
These were the "everythings" Doull said we needed to go our way - including the toss.

His test record could be better though

John's son Daryl made two hundreds vs India at this World Cup and lost both times!

i want Daryl Mitchell to be captain and drop Tim Southee so Nepia can hate him for life.

They've matched the elite Indian batsmen - well, not quite Kohli, but he's had some tournament - averaging over 100!

700 runs! at 90 as well. jesus.
Quint the cock needs 120 tonight to catch him
-
@Rapido yeah the pitch was fine. There was however significant advantage to whoever won the toss (and batted first) because of the humid day time conditions and being out in the field and the night time is clearly the better time to bowl there.

@LABCAT lol Sears will be a much better bowler than Milne IMO.
Conway said he was the quickest bowler he had ever faced when Sears came into the Firebirds setup a few years ago.
At the time he believed him and Ravindra were going to have a huge futures in the Black Caps. He’s so far right on one of them, hopefully he’s right with Sears aswell.
Sears was injured most of last year but hopefully he hits his stride this year. He took a wicket in the first ball he bowled this year against Canterbury.

Starc is holding his spot on his performances not like Southee and Boult who are there on past performances.
Agree on Southee unfortunately but Boult's current world ranking is 7 in ODIs and Starc is 20th.

Not for long Boult is going to slide over the next 12 months I have been a fan of Boult,
But the signs are there he is done every one has their time. -

Seemed like he had the potential to be a rich man's Jacob Oram. Didn't kick on. A bit like that other guy we used to have who came out firing early in his career, bowled frisky medium pace and big hitter in the lower order. I can't remember his name but he had some big games including smashing a bunch of 6s in an ODI in Qtown years ago
