RWC QF: All Blacks v Ireland

I don't think breakdown chaos suits us, our attack needs fast ball. Ireland seem just a little more street smart than us.
We need our scrum firing because Barnes is quick with the penalties and not one for resets. We can't be gifting Sexton points. On the flip side if things aren't going Irelands way he won't put up with Sextons shit either.

@Bovidae Wayne Barnes in a WC quarter final.... here we go.
Fucking arsehole cost us a place in a World Cup Semi Final in 2007. I hate him.

And he is fully aware of it,he openly talks about the fallout from that game in podcasts etc .
It’s etched into his subconscious he fucked us over once before, and it does sound like he has regrets
And that’s why he just maybe a good choice this time around

You need counselling mate. Hating someone who made a couple of mistakes in 2007. He was a young ref who may of got caught in the headlights and the ABs were a team similar, had a team without the smarts to wun game, all have grew and became better at what they did, that includes Barnes (probably best ref in world or certainly top 2-3) Richie McCaw as a captain, (openly says he learnt a lot) and whole AB leadership group.
I more concerned with TMO. -

“Forgive, forget. Bear with the faults of others as you would have them bear with yours.”
In all seriousness, he's a very good ref , good communicator. The playing field is level. -
I am prepared to make an admission right now, although I want ABs to win as always etc, I am not all that nervous or strung up about game. I suspect regardless of result, my life will go on and anyway, I got a NPC semi to go to and get into before that! (C'mon the Naki)
I really think reading rugby forums and how wound up some posters get has been good for me, I know personally if I got to hate people (players, coaches or refs) and got too upset if my team won or lost, I would know the game wouldn't be giving me the joy that it does now. -
Well I'm super nervous. I want 3 more weeks.
-
I just want us to play well. At the end of it all, if we've played 80 minutes of good honest rugby, and we get a fair shake from Barnes, win or lose I will be okay. This last four year cycle has taught me to lower my sights considerably and if we win through I will be pleasantly surprised
-
I'm happy with Wayne Barnes, he keeps the game moving and won't allow the faking of injuries to slow it down. He's not a shadow of the ref who choked in 2007.
I'm nervous and hopeful, I see it as a 50-50 match. Mind boggling to me to see how many people think we have no chance. We are still the All Blacks and we have some magnificent players. The return of several key players after the France match is huge. If we can't get up for this one, we'll never get excited about a match.
We've got to start strong, hit them hard and slowly start putting the doubts in their minds that we used to get when favourites at a world cup. I hope there are no silly cards for accidental head clashes (but if there is, they go to Ireland this time). Come on Boys! -
Watching irelands attacking patterns , body’s in motion everywhere, it’s impressive,
Much has been made of our somewhat outdated defensive structures where we still go man on man.
I have a fear we get a few reads wrong and it costs us .

Some of it can be pretty borderline. In a way it reminds me of the excellent Brumbies teams who used to put a lot of runners ahead of the ball, until they weren't allowed to anymore
-
@kiwiinmelb it might be cliched, but pressure thier 9-10 channel you will make huge inroads to upsetting thier attaack, which in turn will put pressure on the defence.
@Dan54 TBH I think most have come to expect we will bow out this weekend, Team Fozzie have certainly lowered the bar, and I think for whatever reason, this has allowed the edge to be taken off the team.
Hopefully being in camp for weeks now has galvanised them, pressure for spots as well, will give them a bit of urgency and desire

he was one of the few forwards that gained any go forward from the previous matches, plus he is not a hot head.
Bloody good point.

Referee: Wayne Barnes (RFU)
Assistant Referee 1: Matthew Carley (RFU)
Assistant Referee 2: Christophe Ridley (RFU)
TMO: Tom Foley (RFU)Happy with Barnes. One of the better refs about.
Just hope he doesn't get injured and that twat Carley takes over.

The obsession with refs on every thread this week when every fan complains about the ref after a game their team is involved in anyway is doing my head in.
All the refs are doing their best and they are all better than we give them credit for.
Just getting early excuses in for when things don’t go their way
