England only conceded 6 penalties there. Good discipline gets you to the World Cup knock outs.
Fantastic

Fantastic discipline. Superb defence.
Easy against a team that do not contest in the rucks.

Was just superb to see. They hammered away and didn't lost their heads. Great effort.
Japan made a great game of it too. Well done to them. Valiant losers.
A fantastic evenings fare.
Shout out to the ref who just brilliant it must be said.

England have shown some real defensive steel. They could well prove to be a problem at this World Cup... the only thing is will they go away from what has worked?
Ford is in the form of his life, the midfield and Steward a functioning well, why throw in Farrell? I'm not even sure they should put him on the bench, but I suspect they will, and I don't think it is a good idea.
They looked better balanced with a big number eight, and Earls playing 7, will they stick with that when Curry returns, or will they try and shoehorn Earls to 8? (hmmm, think aloud seems similar to Ardie Savea at 8, though that is another story for another day)
Good to see the Poms going well though.

Earls was fantastic today. Very physical boy. Marvellous performance.

I stand by my backing of Japan in this match
If they could have held on to half, shit even a quarter, of their passes they would have spanked England
So disappointing
England were there for the taking and should really be 0-2
But fair play to them, they’ve ridden their luck and stuck to the task
£340 down the pan
Thanks Japan -

Thanks JapanMike, I think you may have been watching that game a little too emotionally attached to Japan. They didn't threaten the try-line all game, England butchered them in the forwards, won the air, and kicked better for distance.
The 65% territory and possession tells the story.

He was told off for being gloom and doom (not the only one here) and has deliberately gone full circle. Black hole sarcasm even. I find this entertaining.

Agreed
They fucked it up almost every time they broke the English line around the 22 with open water ahead of them
A few of those passes had stuck and there would have been penalties and cards at least

Can someone please explain how if a defender places both hands on the floor beyond the ball at the ruck it’s a penalty, but if the first attacking player to form the ruck does it it’s not?
Quoting myself because I’m genuinely looking for an answer
SH tend to enter the ruck solo and off their feet - which hardly gets picked up
Last night England placed hands beyond the tackled player and the ball, resting on their hands like a gorilla and/or flopped on and called about twice
Is the hands beyond the ball a penalty?

i hope to fuck you mean scrum half here, because if you are trying to insinuate this is some Rugby Championship type shit then i refer you to your all conquering green-shirted cousins.

Meant that if it’s a SH ref then whomever does it seems to get a pass
Ireland are missiles, agreed
I think the ref had a good game overall but missed this from England all night
Not the missiling
-
each ref still, to this day, has a different approach to what constitutes hands on the ground. All you can do is adjust to how he is looking at it on the day
not ideal

Why the fuck kick that?
Idiots
Just got into this thread post match and I’m guessing this comment will be repeated quite a lot.

Bridging is forbidden.
