Mike 'Fucking' Catt
What you do in your own home is up to you.
You are so cruel, he could be a dyslexic fan of yours Mr Cat ...

Objectively the worst World Cup.
Where do I start? Mitchell leaves Cullen out in favour of Atiga, Tana gets crocked in a freak incident as Carlos crabs across the midfield. Tana says he's okay to play, but Mitch and Robbie (the artist soon to be know as Dingo) pick the revolving door that was Leon MacDonald at 13. Mr Potato head gets a runaway try in the SF and we have to watch Johnny win England's one and only RWC

Was 2003 also the scene of Gregan's iconic "4 more years" sledge?
all time sledge.

Was on a flight home from Europe to NZ during the semifinal. Air NZ pilot gave the halftime and full time scores. Plane silent.

Apparently Farrell was incensed with Biggar after the 'tackle' because Biggar said
'The Irish coach is shagging your mum'

Ben Atiga being selected ahead of Christian Cullen.
🤦‍♂️
Yes, we really missed that four and a half minutes off game time against Tonga from Cullen….
You do realise that Atiga was an injury replacement.
-
@ACT-Crusader For Ben Blair, yes. Christian Cullen got overlooked twice in 2003.

@ACT-Crusader Cully didn’t exactly help himself with the timing of his autobiography: https://amp.theguardian.com/sport/2003/oct/20/rugbyworldcup2003.rugbyunion9

he didn't get any feedback at all? Wow.

Be interesting to know whether CC stands by that now or Robbie Deans’ version of the story. I suspect it is complex.
On the one hand Deans and Mitchell were not retained after the 2003 RWC, although their record elsewhere suggests that they were more than competent coaches.

They weren’t retained because Mitchell was a complete twat and media relations were at an all time low. The team played good rugby a lot of the time.

@mariner4life He carved up in that match didn't he? The rest of us got to see what he was all about and that he justified the hype.
One of the more incredible seasons of rugby by any player in the world cup era - probably overshadowed by the fact that the RWC winning team included Jonny (who was also phenomenal that year)
-
@Billy-Tell The sponsors were really unhappy and wanted change.

Yep. It wasn’t personal, nasty or laden with profanity - but cut like a knife to the heart.
