@Duluth Yeah, that's why I said "the money must be good". But stuff the fans.
in fairness some aussies teams lose their home games too, would be the case where ever a super round is held
i still think late season round at suncorp would be god (assuming it has to be aus as part of some deal) some actual rivalry between QLD and NSW so rig the draw so they play...and kiwis might be more tempted by a long weekend in QLD than melbourne

The Western Force have signed 22 year old Botswanian twin Brother Props Bami and Basi Malesu from Pau. Soon there will be more imports than Aussies at the Force.
I have no problems with this, it is best way for Aus teams to be more competitive.

My condolences to the commentators.

@Kiwiwomble Geez, the money must be good, because I can't think of any other reason to pick Melbourne again.
Is this some kind of bargaining chip? Give Rugby Australia this, and what will NZR get in return? Because it's unfair on NZ franchises and their fans, because there will always be Kiwi teams that have part with one of their home games.
They have a little more spare money after walking out on the Comm Games

i may even slide down to Melbourne for this.
As good as excuse any for a weekend on the beers

The games the NZ teams will play in the Super Round are:
Blues vs Highlanders (opening game on Friday)
Crusaders vs Waratahs (Saturday)
Chiefs vs Brumbies (Sunday)
Hurricanes vs Reds (Sunday)Hopefully they rotate which teams lose a home game in 2024.
I was hoping they would drop this. But not to be. Canes are likely to lose a home game this year too as they didn't last year

I believe the Highlanders game is a Highlanders home game... I get that the money is good, and I have no issue with them doing the Super Round, but why don't we apply some common sense... Currently teams play 5 derby games + 3 rivalry games, which are generally derbies.
If they are so desperate to have Super Round, add in a 15th round so everyone keeps their 7 home games, and add in an extra rivalry game which wouldn't have otherwise been played.
For instance, using this year's draw, pretend those Round Two games were played in usual locations, they could have played the following games:
- Highlanders v Crusaders
- Blues v Chiefs
- Hurricanes v Fijian Drua
- Waratahs v Reds
- Rebels v Moana Pasifika
- Brumbies v Western Force
By no means satisfactory, but I'd say far fairer and then at least you are having engaging games without taking away from fans.
The way the draw works, the Highlanders may only get to host the Crusaders (Likely to be Round One) and Hurricanes this year + MP and three Aussie sides, which will mean a long time without getting to see my side play the best teams at home.

wasn't last years game a Highlander Home game?
-
@Kiwiwomble Nope, Crusaders home game.
-
@Kiwiwomble Yeah, you're right. They don't want just Trans- Ta$man games in the super round; they'd run the risk of all Aussie teams losing during the super round

That's a winning attitude.
Just one more reason why super rugby sucks compared to its key competitors.

Brydon Ennor who ever he has signed for in 2024, Crusaders or according to @george33 Highlanders neither will see him for the SR season ruptured ACL not expected to play until at least June 2024.
Who ever he has signed for will need an injury replacement.
