Because of this need to gain a deeper assurance about RA’s true position, NZR asked it for a month-long extension to sign the long-form document.

What sort of crap is that from NZR? If they are signing it for 'nefarious' reasons, a month long extension is not going to make them say 'you got us, we only signed to get the third party money'. NZR are such a bunch of dufuses.

Bingo. Surely the signing of a long term binding agreement is a deep assurance in and of itself? This sounds like spin by NZR after assuming RA wouldn't sign and then got caught when they did sign.

The Roar was reporting that Waugh has been in NZ working with NZR in the last week or so.

Both sides are as bad as each other and both seem to run to the press to air their dirty laundry - NZR through Gregor Paul and RA through Decent/Doran etc.

you're right, theyre both childish...I honestly think i would get behind a break away comp

Former Exeter Chiefs and England international scrumhalf Jack Maunder has confirmed that he has signed with Australian Super Rugby franchise the Melbourne Rebels.

Joining the Australian outfit ahead of the 2024 season, the 26-year-old Maunder will link up with former teammate and current Rebels assistant coach Geoff Parling.

Making his debut on England’s 2017 tour of Argentina, the Premiership winning scrumhalf would only feature for three minutes.
This was his only appearance for England’s senior national side. He has expressed his excitement at experiencing another rugby culture.

The Western Force have signed 22 year old Botswanian twin Brother Props Bami and Basi Malesu from Pau. Soon there will be more imports than Aussies at the Force.

That is weird I thought the Blues would want to keep him.

@Kiwiwomble Geez, the money must be good, because I can't think of any other reason to pick Melbourne again.

Is this some kind of bargaining chip? Give Rugby Australia this, and what will NZR get in return? Because it's unfair on NZ franchises and their fans, because there will always be Kiwi teams that have part with one of their home games.

@Stargazer it’s mostly funded by local gov. I doubt other cities are interested paying for it

The teams that give up home games get paid too ($350k I think was the amount one year)

in fairness some aussies teams lose their home games too, would be the case where ever a super round is held

i still think late season round at suncorp would be god (assuming it has to be aus as part of some deal) some actual rivalry between QLD and NSW so rig the draw so they play...and kiwis might be more tempted by a long weekend in QLD than melbourne

I have no problems with this, it is best way for Aus teams to be more competitive.

They have a little more spare money after walking out on the Comm Games

The games the NZ teams will play in the Super Round are:

Blues vs Highlanders (opening game on Friday)
    Crusaders vs Waratahs (Saturday)
    Chiefs vs Brumbies (Sunday)
    Hurricanes vs Reds (Sunday)

Hopefully they rotate which teams lose a home game in 2024.

Generally outside the Super Round the Trans Ta$man games are rotated each year and so next year with that rotation Crusaders-Tahs would otherwise be a Tahs home game as this year the game was in Christchurch.
