Yes. There's a formula to decide who wins a game of cricket. Something to do with runs and wickets. It is a tried and tested method.
This whole moral victory rubbish has really been carried on by the lower end of the Aus media, following on from some pretty innocuous comments by a couple of the England players immediately following the first two close losses. If anyone is banging on about it, it isn't our boys.
It's a classic case of having your view, then looking for things to reinforce your view only.
On the whole, I think everybody is quite gutted about the weather calling off the series, including Australians.
Absolutely, see the post match interview that Cummins gave, the one that Piers Morgan slated him for. It was very much "great to retain the Ashes but this wasn't the way I would have wanted it".

Had the lead, had momentum, had time to bowl Australia out
Given Eng managed 1 wicket in nearly 2 hours of play on Day 4 i'd say Eng were fucked even if they declared earlier on Day 3.
Anderson has something like 4 wickets in 3 tests this series. Broad far better but it's not exactly prime Broad.
Day 3 track was very different from the Day 4 track

I'm a bit torn about the result at Old Trafford.
The Australian in me is mightily relieved. Relieved we retain the urn, but mainly relieved we aren't subject to a historic 3-2 England win and the ensuing parades, OBEs, tribute documentaries etc. I mean can you imagine the insufferable carry-on? They'd be frothing about it for decades. So bullet dodged there.
But the cricket fan in me is sad. I've never seen a 2-2 Ashes series coming into the 5th Test, and I might never see it. It would have been electric.
There is still a lot to play for at the Oval though. Big difference between 3-1 and 2-2.

I was amazed to see that Sam Curran is an MBE. As is Adil Rashid. Not that they hand them out to just any old cricketer.

Shane Warne's epic sledge at Paul Collingwood comes to mind
"didn't you get an OBE? For scoring 5 at The Oval? That's embarrassing"

Team award. For winning one of the limited over world cups. I've got no problem with that.

Don't think it was a team award - for Curran it was for the T20 World Cup that I can barely remember.

@KiwiPie Yeah you're right, though it turns out there were a few of that T20 side that got either the MBE or OBE in 2022/23, so I assumed...
I'm a cricket snob so giving out any lifetime awards for hit and giggle cricket seems very odd.
