@MiketheSnow Always seemed to turn up at a picket line.
Great actress and good for her in actually standing successfully as an MP rather than wank on from the sidelines. For me, a bit of a racist who thought it OK to call pro-Israeli Jews Nazis and who defended Corbyn's antisemitism.
Is Corbyn an anti-Semite or anti-Israel?
Good question. But probably not the thread to discuss this.

@pakman Fortunately for us, nearly 50% of world production is in Australia.
WELL, if we're trying to save the world by moving to electric machinery, then the 'benefit' of Aussie lithium oxide rocks being shipped to China, where coal powered machinery refines it, is somewhat hard to get excited about!
It's double the export value here!

Tea and Dilmah Tea Parties at the cricket. A life well lived.
Apparently all the tea in hospices in NZ is supplied for free by Dilmah . There’s probably a lot more stuff this guy did that will come to light over the next few weeks.

A very good journalist and broadcaster IMO and sad to see him gone so young but by the cringe, haven’t the BBC gone over the top? I was watching the afternoon news and it was a good 20 minutes about George, meanwhile there were a few minor stories being given a footnote. Ukraine mounting a drone attack on Moscow was one 🙄

Not to metion the obligatory BBC presenter breaking down in tears when the news is announced.

Britain’s first £1 million player

@paremata I met him a few years ago along with his two sons Dilhan and Mahlik .
He was a real old-fashioned gentleman. Used to drink 18 cups of tea a day, starting with an English Breakfast when he woke and progressively getting weaker as the day wore on before ending with a peppermint to aid his sleep.
You are spot on about his good works.
Dilmah is the only plantation to retailer operation going. When he first started out, he told his staff (about 15 in number) that he would fund their children's education right through to university graduation. He also offered all staff full health cover. Even though Dilmah ended up employing thousands he continued to honour his original promise.

He always struck me as pretty genuine in those ads.

Now that's a good fluffybunny right there

Astounded that he "only" scored 12 goals for England. I'd have thought it was in the 20's.

I remember seeing the TV news on his £1m signing way back on my first visit. Was the first thing I say on UK TV I think.
I feel old...
