Also I'd prefer to give DMac another start at 10 too.

Shit, you changed your tune fast.

Well when events change, I change my mind. What do you do?

His display was all the good things I've pointed out with practically none of the bad. Why wouldn't I want the backline operating like that again?

Well, good to see you've caught up with the rest of us who were saying this earlier in the season. Good on you!

Eben's father has passed away last night. Waiting on a call from Eben if he is coming back or will be playing.

Sad news. All the best to the big man.

    @Bones

I find it odd as well.

We need his bulk and carrying from the start and he is probably our best at getting over the gain line consistently.

His set piece work is just as good as the others.

I feel that Taylor and Coles are more suited to coming off the bench.

@DaGrubster yeah it just wastes the best attributes of all the players. ST isn't the guy you want coming on for 20 to work the opposition. That's when you want the hole runners / ball players. Grunt up front.

@G-Man really sad, he should be on the first plane home. Start RG Snyman and bring a real 6 (Escom or Brannas) on the bench. Sous can cover lock.

@Bones The Bok replacement front row don't have much, if any, drop off from those they will be replacing, so I'm not sure there will be the holes from the Bok front row players to take advantage of. Bok replacement front row can be introduced anywhere from 30 mins to 50 mins into the game.

ST could start and be told to go at the Bok starting front row and give the AB's an edge in the set piece. Or he could be brought on fresh to counter the Bok's better hooker Marx.

ST is the AB's best hooker right now. So whenever he comes on, it needs to be for at least 50 mins.

@OomPB Yes, really sad. All the best to him and his family. I hope he gets supported fully with whatever decision he makes.

@stodders he'll be lucky to get 25 if he's not starting.

Regardless, on attack or defence you're not only coming up against your opposite number. There's at least 7 other blokes that have been on the whole match.

@Bones True that. I'm in the "he should start camp" to be clear.

I'm not sold on Taylor as an impact player though. And I think Coles is a starter or out of the 23. The Bok coaches have decided their better hooker will provide more impetus from the bench. Marx has proven himself over time to be able to bring the intensity from the get-go, so you can follow their logic.

It is a conundrum for the AB coaches given that this will be an 80 min arm wrestle and there will be few moments in the game that will probably be telling. So being able to generate momentum from the bench players will probably be pretty telling come fulltime.

@stodders yeah I think Taylor at his best (which he appears to be back to) is the perfect bench hooker - like Coles used to be.

Think Ryan said/hinted last year that starting Hooker is influenced by game-plan and style of opponent. Sami started both Tests against the Saffas last year so I think he's probably a dead cert to start.

It is. I presume he will come back. I would start Klein. RG still not at his best form as of yet.

@Frank Gus was brutal there. Totally forgetting last year when Fletcher Newell rocked up as a rookie and gave the Boks a little taste. Tamaiti is clearly ahead of them based on everything I’ve seen this year.

Tamaiti isn't international quality at TH. It's between him and Ofa for bench LH. Gus was spot on.

@Stargazer 10am. Thrown by the wayside. Obviously a ploy to provide turmoil into the plans of those that follow on

At hooker, it was interesting and pretty surprising that Gus said he was backing his boy Samisoni to be on the bench (vs Coles) and that he thought Taylor had taken the mantle back (as number 1).

Different people and different groups obviously see things differently!!!
