It really does suck to follow an entire tournament and see it after four months deliver a duff outcome.

You really surprise me. It was a great, tense game right up to the end. Both sides had great moments and great tackling, big collisions.
The Crusaders might have made less inventive metres but they also made less mistakes.

Oh and (to another subthread/poster) I also thought the Chiefs contained Leicester pretty well. Could be a 7 or 8 but not a 9 for me. I also thought Jordan wasn't the best 15 on the park and that Christie was effective but less so than usual.

I'm not sure that ALB played badly, stupidly at key points or was just unlucky, but he was very lucky not to get red. No care taken.

@Stag Where was Whitelock's captaincy when the ABs capitulated against England last year, or lost to Ireland and France a year earlier?

If Robertson wants Papalii as the AB captain we've got problems too.

Who would you have as captain then? Not many options are clear to me but I'd prefer Sam W over Sam C.

@nostrildamus Reckon Scooter's really matured this season. Seems to have taken learnings on board from previous skippers. Cool head. Stood up when it counted in all the big games too, And remained on the field.

Good point, longterm he could be. I'd like to see him settled in one position (for me it is as a lock who plays a bit like a 6 rather than a 6 who sometimes is also a lock).

The Brumbies semi had the tension, without the result being a travesty.

Perhaps I'm too sentimental in wanting the best team to be crowned champion?!

Chiefs mistakes were mainly after missed forward pass at end of H1, and when finding themselves down 22-20 instead of up 20-13 (at worst). Had Jesters been 13 -20 with 15 to play they'd have had to chance their arm, and the way the Chiefs had played to then it was almost inevitable mistakes would have arisen.

Missed forward pass was sliding doors moment.

    Team of the final:

    Williams/Samisoni/Dyer/Scooter/Whitelock/Cane/PGS/Jacobson/Weber/DMac/Goodhue/Nankivell/Leicester F/Narawa/Stevenson.

BTW wouldn't make a bad AB selection!

I don't disagree much with that. I'd say a major factor though was that Crusaders seemed to play the ref better. That forward pass was damn obvious, yes.

I revoke my ref whinge to give the 'saders the congratulations they deserve.

Nothing to do with being more magnanimous or anything, just that two days I don't have that empty feeling of falling out of love with rugby I have after big stupid decisons before. I guess I've just accepted that referee's are a huge part of the game, and you need to adapt. We clearly didn't.

Robertson bodes well for the All Blacks. And that's all I really care about these days.

Unbelievable period of dominance from the Cantab's. Would be something worth celebrating if I didn't have a bunch of white trash relatives down there acting like they just won the fucking lottery and the first thing they did was buy a plane to fly over the rest of NZ telling them how great they are. fluffybunnies.

It's a shame that that try has been caught up in the forward pass debate, I thought that it was a great example of the positive aspects of mauling. The crusaders manage to draw in so many players and get them out of the way for Jordan to be put in a great spot to make a nice run. If you'd just gone off the top straightaway I don't think that move works as well.

Shades of the victory in 2008 with a fairy tale send off for Deans, Thorne and a couple of other stalwarts.

All the Crusaders know they have another trophy 7 in a row 14 in total and some people are bitter and twisted,
Just more fuel to win another next year

They are to be congratulated on this stunning achievement, but it says an awful lot about the competition. None of it flattering.

Different positions. PGS played at 6 and Christian Lio-Willie played at No. 8.

3 yellow cards and a disallowed try cost the Chiefs dearly.

In saying that if Dmac had slotted the kick the same way he did the week before it would have been a different outcome.

Crusaders took their opportunities and were clinical as they always are.

1 meter back and the try would have been allowed, a couple meters more on the kick and the Chiefs would have won.

Was the one that got away really, disappointing end to the season.

Maybe so but the Crusaders can only do their job which is to win the comp.
They don’t control the workings of the comp how it is formed selected etc.
Maybe they just proved with 8 ABs out of the final it is the enviroment not always the cattle that determine a champion side.

was that bloody carnt jesus that fcuked that up..

I swear as Dmac pointed towards the posts there was a slight wind behind him. In the time it took him to tee it up it swung around and lifted from the south kicking straight into it

Cattle still contained 9 current ABs in the starting 15. And another a recent AB. If coaches did it with 3 or 4 ABs would agree. And how many were missing from the starting 15. 2 or 3. And the replacements were a high enough std. Not poor

Most team have injuries. Crusader's are lucky to have attracted good backups. That other teams can struggle to do this for obvious reasons. Top teams always find attracting quality players easier
