@Kiwiwomble
Seems like a waste of money to me. -

So Beauden Barrett is hoping to sign a deal to take him through to the next 4 year cycle WC in 2027.
At which time he will be 36 dob 27/05/91, not sure if he will be AB quality in 4 years.Even if he's not an AB by then (and 36 is not that old) would he still be valuable? I think his knowledge transfer to younger SR rugby players he would be a huge benefit he would also still have marketing value
Perhaps the pay scale can slide down if he doesn't make AB squads etc
It's great that a player wants to commit to NZR long term. I don't understand the negativity.

@Duluth
My thoughts are more looking at BB as a WC player in 2027, I think that is a risk paying him at that scale rate right through to 2027.If a sliding pay scale if not in the AB's is part of the deal then it is at least a more sensible signing, as his experience I agree is valuable.
-
@Duluth personally i would rather that money was used to secure future talent, making it so young guys/girls can commit to training full time or stopping them going over seas would be more valuable IMO
also, every minute of his professional career is on film younger SR players can still study him, i know not the same as first hand but surely he's been doing that already
If we really think he has so much knowledge we cant let him go....pay for his coaching badges and try and get him on the pathway

One of the things NZR did well was the AB XV idea where younger and more experienced players got together and players and coaches learned a lot about each other. Players like BB could be invaluable in that environment

Lol.can we stop saying "because Foster"
Heavily tenured high profile players very very rarely get dropped from modern international teams in world cup years
International teams are not rep teams.

Tell that to Ben Smith, he shouldn't have been dropped, Beaudy should.

And Cane. Dropping him for the semi in 2019 and then giving him the captaincy a year later was fucking batshit mental and stank of a coaching ticket at odds with itself. How can you drop a lad for the semi and then the assistant gives him the arm band the following year. Clown car on fire.
Cane should have started that semi. He had a strong shoulder and would have stopped Vunipola et al making hay. Scooter could have came in for the second half if needs be.

From last game, and rest of season, beaudy should be nowhere near black. But he'll be starting fullback cos foster
Beaudy is one of my favourite players of all time. A cheat code. A “footballer”.
But him in the team is ruining the balance, omitting more deserving players and undermining the shirt. He shouldn’t be there.
I hope he proves me wrong but I don’t see it.
I don’t see the point of him any more .
