There's no way Stevenson is a shoe in (again, foster). Especially if Jordie is still seen as a fullback.

Yeah, the team will be stacked with fullbacks (Barretts, DMac, Jordan, probably Havilli). I really hope take someone with a great kicking game though. Stevenson is playing great. Sullivan good option too.

Think both Narawa & Nareki would be on Foster's radar.

Been more impressed with Leicester F than Jordan lately - and I'm still not convinced by the former at Test level. Telea & Stevenson are shoe-ins with Jordan highly likely as/if he improves with more game time. Probably leaves Caleb Clarke, Narawa & Nareki battling for two spots

I can't see Clarke being anything other than a sure thing (for foster). Same for Jordan.

Narawa ahead of Nareki, he's had a fantastic season and just feels like he's more made for test rugby, but if Nareki comes back strong next year he'll be hard to ignore.

Dunno. Think we'll def. see Stevenson and another 11/14/15 pre-RWC. Foster has a habit of bringing new players in but being over-cautious in playing them so maybe not in the RWC squad.

Guess a lot will depend on what he does with Havili and midfield. Does he pick Goodhue and use Havili as a back-up 15?

    Wonder how he sees BB?

He could come right like Dan Carter, but then again....

For me, Nareki is a lesser version on Sevu Reece.

Both squads will be named live on The Breakdown, so from 7:30 pm Sunday (NZT).

BS. Selecting a player who hasn't played much is only justified if you have no other option. Jordan's position is not one like that.

Meanwhile selecting BB because "class is permanent" would be putting faith over experience.

Why not pick Julian Savea on that basis? He was pure class.

You don’t win the cup without WJ

I reckon Jordan is a certainty based on his best , and consideration given to his time out and the wc still some time away , they will pick him and back him to get back to his best I’m tipping

I don't want to make a bombastic holier than thou statement, but anyone who thinks Will Jordan won't be in the squad has lost their marbles and needs to take a good look at themselves.

    @Steve

Course he'll be in the squad and the RWC if he remains uninjured and available.

Doesn't mean the coaches won't bench him and try out Stevenson, Narawa, etc pre-RWC

Beaudy probably makes it, based on reputation

But beaudy class is based on speed and acceleration, like a winger, that is not permanent. DC moved beyond being a try scoring ten into the ultimate controlling ten. Beauty sadly has not

    Ah, the No True Scotsman!.

BB was twice world player of the year. Now he was just a speed merchant?

What if Jordan has lost some pace too?

I know he will be in the squad, if fit. I would pick him, if properly fit.

My objection is to the assertion that "class" is permanent and that good players will always regain form. That's just not true -- unless you define "class" in such a way that it means only those that regain their form, and forget all those that don't.

I think age goes hand in hand with that statement though.

Will Jordan is on an upward trajectory. His legs aren't gone. He's only a nipper.

Whereas someone like Beaudy probably isn't.

We've seen BBs best. As others have said his strengths were his ability to inject into the line, his timing and his turn of speed. Not his ability to game manage. And he's not the player he was physically

Fans, in general, like to ignore the passing of time. You see it over and over on here, people remembering shit a player used to do, and mention that as evidence of what they can do. The evidence is often 5 years out of date.

@canefan thats why a lot of BB's best games were coming off the bench and tearing holes though tired backlines, less so of the hard graft give and take sizing each other up we see at the start of a big test match
