Hurricanes 2023

@Stargazer awesome signing, with Franks unlikely to sign on we need to future proof our props and he looks to have all the attributes for Super Rugby and above.
I hope the Canes also sign PJ Sheck over Pasilio Tosi going forward aswell.
With the signing of Godfrey and now Lauaki I hope we can lock in more under 20 talent. Hopefully we sign the likes of Raymond Tuputupu, Tom Allen, Cooper Flanders and Jordi Vijoen before other teams get their mits on them.

@Canes4life
Tosi has not been bad so far. -

Lauaki seems like another top talent. in the Godfrey, Higgins, Lakai class.
Who of the other 4 you mentioned seems the most promising. And fit with the canes requirements. Flander is a short 7 as far as I can make out so do we need another one (or is he too good to lose). What we really need is a tall quality lock, top hooker and HB and another prop (Sheck). As Tosi is not up to much and Franks might go
And esp a new quality head coach. Pointless having players like lakai and Higgins if they are ignored. Or play well in a few games and are then dropped

@Winger well if Laidlaw gets the gig he would have worked with most of these guys in the Under 20s setup.
To be fair I haven't watched too much of those four but to me they've all built a pretty strong reputation through schools and under 19s.
The younger Flanders looks to be an old school 7 with strong leadership skills, definitely someone I'd like the Canes to sign.
Tom Allen looks like a pretty decent locking option for the Canes going forward. He really stood out playing for Hastings Boys last year.
I've seen Jordi Vijoen play a couple of times and he's a whippet with an outstanding pass. He would be the perfect guy coming on for Roigard in the last 20 minutes of a game. He's already spent some time training with the Canes this year.
Raymond Tuputupu has already made his Hurricanes debut and he did a decent job. Expect him to start for the Under 20s, he's a candidate to replace Coles next year but has faced a few niggly injuries lately.

@SBW1 Be interesting I’ve spoken to PUJ a couple of times and he said he wouldn’t mind playing with his brother.
What are the odds you would ever seem them on the field at the same time? Unfortunate they are so injury prone, as they could be a great midfield.

Hurricanes playing club rugby (27 May 2023)
Wellington
Daniel Sinkinson (Avalon, 15)
Pasilio Tosi (Paremata-Plimmerton, 3)
Riley Higgins (Petone, 12)
Bailyn Sullivan (Wainuiomata, 13)
Peter Umaga-Jensen (Wainuiomata, 12)
Manawatū
TK Howden (Feilding Yellows, 5)
Good to see that Sullivan will be back playing; just a pity he's playing in Wellington instead of his family's club Napier Pirate. Noticed his dad playing for Pirates' 3rds, last Saturday. Pirates could have used Rakete-Stones, too, but I guess he's again not released for club rugby. -
Billy Proctor signs on for the Canes. He’ll be knocking on the ABs door post the WC for sure.
-
That's a pretty sharp midfield for Wainui
-
@SouthernMann lol it’s better than the Highlanders midfield.

I watched that game too where they demolished Napier Old Boys by almost 100 at Tamatea Park. It was most enjoyable in the bright sunshine and almost 20 degree temperature. I watched from behind the goal line at the Clubrooms end of the ground, where were you standing?

Yes. How funny. Some franchises have players playing club footy that are better than players starting in Super
