The Dalton - Sam Cane stats? It was on here somewhere but I'll try to find it.
After round 5 this year (March 29) their stats looked similar but I did not see time between rucks etc.Cane has made 21 carries for 107 metres, made 21 passes and two offloads and conceded no turnovers, while Papalii has carried 22 times for 169 metres, sent 18 passes and three offloads, and conceded two turnovers. Papalii has made 58 tackles – five dominant – for three misses, winning four turnovers, while Cane has made 42 – five dominant – for no misses, and has snaffled three turnovers. -

Not the original article but stats seem the same here, of course it was late last year, not sure if they are recorded in 2023 for Super:

Ruck attendance intervals also panned out in favour of the youngster – one every 2.2 minutes versus one every 2.7 for Slammin’ Sam. Another injury to the New Zealand captain has allowed Papali’i to state his case in no uncertain terms, starting with the match against Wales in Cardiff. Papali’i had five carries 34 metres with four breaks or busts (2nd for metres gained by a forward, behind Ardie Savea), he completed 14 of 15 tackles (2nd behind Sam Whitelock), and he enjoyed a massive 77 ruck attendances (1st on the team), balanced 50/50 between attack and defence. He even threw in a breakdown pilfer and two lineout takes for good measure. -
I doubt many would disagree that thus far, neither are playing like they were last year. Sam is playing better than last year, Dalton isn't.

@nostrildamus Yep mate, but doesn't change anything, what we were talking about, I said Cane was fast as the other loosies, that doesn't actually say he was timed or anything, only number of ruck attendance times etc were from different games, and don't say how many rucks were had in the games etc. I not arguing with your opinion, but that's why stats are not a real indication of anything especially when they taken from different games etc.
Your comment wasn't quite right, they weren't timed between rucks , you can only do that when they playing in same game surely.

But anyway, I think maybe we might be meaning different things. -

But anyway, I think maybe we might be meaning different things.ruck attendance mentioned in above, and was for last year and for a different competition....it sounds like Cane is fitter and healthier this year...I'm not saying one is currently better to the other as I haven't watched enough games, I'm just asking!

Simply in terms of man-management it would be a bit stupid to send signals to him that we don't really trust you this late in the day, while waiting to see how DMac's game transitions from Super rugby. Aside from which I'm way more upbeat about Richie's game than most on the Fern - I'm pretty much with Tim Horan, who recently rated him one of the top three players in the world.
Definitely a place opened up in the outside backs with Sevu's injury. It will be very interesting to see how Fozzie shapes his backs, with half a dozen guys - Beaudy, DMac, Jordie, Will, Havili, Stevenson - all possibilities to play fullback.
I maybe wrong but I suspect people wanting wholesale changes based on super rugby form may be disappointed in general,
I reckon they will pretty much trot out the same team unless forced through injury
I think their thinking will be , we have been building and working on these combinations, it’s too late now to throw it all out and start again

I think that 11-12 players are already inked in for the starting XV. 6, 11, 14 and 15 will be the positions that may be yet to be decided. And the choice of fullback will determine who plays on the right wing.
To me, it will be about getting the selection of the 23 right.

He's looked like an AB wing for just a few minutes against Oz, sadly he's never kicked on from that
He has been dining out on one lomu esque run against Australia during the pandemic for a while now. I like my Allblack wingers and fullback to score at least a try every 1.5 tests.
I think he has his uses and he certainly has the physique to punch holes and knock out the likes of Faf de Klerk but I’d expect him to have at least 8/9 tries in his 15 tests to date.
He has 4……..
