Chiefs v Blues

If this competition was based on brains, the Blues would be near the bottom. Hopeless.
It's only round 6 and the Blues have already lost 2 more matches than they lost in the 2022 regular season.
It appears Schmidt was the key difference after all, equally how did our All Blacks look before he came in?

Tough crowd
Really enjoyed that
DMac putting his hand up

Thought the difference was poor decisions by Blues leaders. They were always dangerous in following up high balls in Chiefs territory. Nail your penalties and use contestable kicks. Hated the tactics by Sotutu at 8 keeping ball in scrums so long but it worked.
Surprised by all the negativity on Dmac. Thought he got the Chiefs out of a lot of troublesome spots and nailed some tough kicks. Narawa was just awesome. A true bolter.. Liked the work of Cane and Finau as well as Weber tonite.
Blues front row was great and Christie was a dynamo. But some backs are playing well below their AB standing. Final rap is for Daniel Rona up against an AB 13 who was unable to make any impact.
Chiefs should not have been allowed to win that one. Finau could have been carded for high tackle but wasnt and that settled it.

Anyone think Finau might be future AB level?
Yeah, me, 12 months ago
ESPN has him with 13 made, one missed, and I’d say that they felt all of them.
I really like the way he hits people, even if he likely should have got yellow in there for one of them (I missed that incident, thanks my 4YO kid).

He likes to hurt people and NZ rugby doesn't have many like that
He's also a decent lineout operator and has footspeed

Isn't a try scoring motion the end of a penalty advantage?
It's difficult to argue that it shouldn't be given it's a clear opportunity there to score a try.
-
Does DMac run further sideways than he does down the field?

That was the worst performance I've seen from Barrett in a long time. Maybe ever? It wasn't just his fluffed try or his poor goal kicking, his general game management was poor as well. All players have a use-by date, and I wonder if we are seeing BB reach his in a rather public and inglorious way? I thought the Blues still had enough ball and territory to win this game, but poor decision making and finishing cost them. Well done to the Chiefs though, they thoroughly deserved their win. They look like a team that knows their structure and enjoys playing together. This Chiefs team reminds me of the vintage Rennie-era great Chiefs teams, perhaps without the physicality and roughness that defined those teams. It looks well coached and is playing above the sum of its parts,

Chiefs tight five decidedly better than their opposition (aside from scrumming) as expected.
Chiefs back three better too.
Individual match ups:
- Webber clearly better than Christie.
- Sotutu over Jacobson.
- Finau over Segner.
- DMac over a horrid Beauden.

The thing is this isn't a one off. This is a pattern. He's done.
No doubt Leon will stick him at 10 next week though......
