@KiwiMurph i think a lot of NZ halfbacks could do better with box kicks so thats good to hear

One thing I like about Roigard is his box kicking. It's very effective. He consistently kicks well.
Fakatava by comparison has a lot of improvement to go in that regard.
He also has a big boot which he used to kick from his 22 to halfway last weekend

For me Roigard has a point of difference with his running ability,
I would like to see him at the RWC.
That box kick could be handy. -
i wouldn't mind if we were brave with our 3rd in various positions. first choices is the best, second choice is the safe one...3rd i feel can be something new or different, filling the squad completely with options we consider safe just because they have experience at international level doesn't excite me

@Kiwiwomble guess alot will depend on what Fozzie sees as his best way to win the rwc...rookie debutant or safe experience.
-
@taniwharugby of course, i just dont blindly fall into the camp of experience trumps all, experience where they havent played well or got beat aint inherently good, so my feeling is a bit of both, pick experience as first and second choice...but if there is a rookie hot on form then roll the dice

That box kick could be handy.Very much like his ability to hit runners with a pass while running too,

there is also the maverick quality of the other teams not having too much "Tape" on your bolter players. a small factor, but every little helps.
Inject a bit of fresh blood in to give everyone a lift. Especially at scrum half and back three. Its stale.

“Summit” is usually code for a talkfest. Let’s hope it actually comes to something

No code. They are quite clear that this was just a discussion between forward coaches to get some alignment for RWC year on playing to current ref trends and being more effective.
Sounds a good idea to me. -

Sounds a good idea to me.So coaches doing their job. Hardly newsworthy, but hey let’s put the summit tag on it and make it more than it really is.

Not sure where you are coming from here.
It is a 'summit meeting' because it is competing coaches getting some alignment for the good of the peak selections. Normally they would "do their job" as individuals because that is the way the franchises are set up and managed.
I think it is worth letting fans know. The comment that NZ rugby should be working together for a common goal and playing alignment is often made on here. Now we can see that it does actually happen. -
@Crucial you can’t see that it’s spin and giving the appearance that they are “doing more”? You would expect that coaches have more contact during a RWC year, which has happened previously without the tagline or articles. And I’m all for that, but given all the furore over the last few months you know the PR was more important than the substance of any ‘summit’.

im with @ACT-Crusader here...." to get some alignment for RWC year on playing to current ref trends and being more effective" definitely sounds like what they should be doing....like all the time...every day

Definitely not 'all the time...every day'. That leads to group think and way too much similarity.
Of course the coaches do get together an discuss trends but this is being painted as a little bit more than that. Getting forwards to use the same techniques to counter lineout drive mauls means that they get more practice and are ready when they hit the ABs.
I get what @ACT-Crusader is saying. I just think he is being way too cynical. There may be an assumption that this stuff is done anyway but I don't have an issue with it being released to the press. All Press Releases are effectively spin but some also contain some information that is interesting and highlight something good that is going on. -

Well you know - Foster with his track record of wild out of the blue, risk taking selections and all...
