@SBW1 off one decent performance? By a guy I've seen grumbled about by crusaders supporters as too slow? Can't see it eh...

Not completely out of the blue as had been talked about for a while…but TUG is doing everything he can to put his hand up, if he can stay fit then I think he deserves it

I would LOVE to see what RI could running off his shoulder, regular front football, always drawing in a second and often third defender

The way Hoskin is playing, I'd love for them to move Ardie back to 7, along side Ethan, back 3 witj huge workrate on both sides of the ball which would make up for them being probably a bit on the small side.

@taniwharugby Ethan to 7 if anything, but Paps has earned his place imo.

Dallas Macleod named MOTM surely on current form he must be in with a chance.

I would take Proctor before picking McLeod. Proctor is starting to play some useful footy.

Nankivell, Poihipi, TUJ, and probably about 2-3 more ahead of McLeod at least eh.

I’ll go against the trend in this thread and actually suggest a bolter - Heem

He’s consistently done a good job for the Blues subbing on at 11, 12, 13 or 14. He’s in the picture as he made the AB xv last year

You need utilities in a relatively small RWC squad. A specialist bench option. That role is currently taken by Ennor

At last. Someone who actually knows the definition of bolter. Heem would fit that category.

Whatever happens the selectors need to take a risk imo. If we limit ourselves to players already capped we are not winning anything. The likes of BB etc should be jettisoned. He’s not a 10 at international level and he’s no longer the best option at 15 either. He’ll always have the 2015 final.

@Bones Nankivell is going overseas so he is out of contention. McLeod is part of a Crusader team which if he can play himself into some more consistant form could well be in contention. TUJ is coming back soon for the Hurricanes.

That's actually a very good point.

TUJ is coming back soon for the Hurricanes.

    He's definitely not.

Cutting to the chase, are you talking about PUJ returning to the Canes or TUJ returning to the Highlanders?
As they are both often injured, I can only guess Bones thinks you mean PUJ is returning..

@nostrildamus PUJ, he was the one talked about as a future All Black last year even by the coaches. He is also in a form team which will help a lot.

The tough thing for PUJ will be getting game time outside of AB rest weeks. Proctor has really improved this year and Sullivan has just come back.

I could be wrong but even TUJ seemed to be on the radar. I liked PUJ in black but as @KiwiMurph noted his competition and I suspect even his own Super coaches don't favour him (or at least seemed to seldom play him, and at 13, where he belongs).

He made the ABs as a 13 in 2020. Since then he's had 5 starts at centre at SR level (4 in 2021 and only 1 last year)

He really hasn't been playing enough in his best position. He's had more time at 12 recently than 13

For him to make it he would need some great form in the midfield very soon and probably some time as an outside back too. Then he could sneak into the utility role of a midfielder who can cover out wide.

At least most people would call him a bolter unlike many of the names in this thread

and TUJ has managed to put together 6 games in a row (including pre season) and i thought was a bit of a stand out on the weekend for the landers
