Afoa was a massive loss to NZ rugby. He signed overseas when he was 27. So NZ only got his development years and never saw the monster that he became

I remember one TSFer congratulating Afoa on getting some money but boldly claimed he would get eaten alive up north and that he would never get an extension.

NZR deserves plenty of blame. IIRC Afoa wanted to stay but got low balled
